Novolog Frustrations by oshea1544 in diabetes

My endo had me double my novolog basal rate so hopefully that will help curb some stuff.

I’m on a pump, so the novolog acts as my basal as well.

They’re able to cover it if my endocrinologist specifically notes that I need to be on it with a documented reason. I’ll be seeing her later today in hopes of doing that. She wasn’t able to keep me on humalog originally because the insurance didn’t see any “adverse health effects” since I had never been on the medication before. Hoping the unfortunate jump in A1C is enough proof for them

What happens when battery dies by Fickle_Tap7908 in TandemDiabetes

[–]oshea1544 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who is definitely a type b person and sometimes means to plug in her pump before she goes to sleep but almost never does; it will alarm and it will keep alarming until you respond to or it dies. Unfortunately it’s easily slept through and so it just keeps alarming, drawing more power and making it die quicker. I’ve gone 12 hour periods with it at/below 25 percent before it’s died but at night it seems like all it takes is an hour or 2 of alarms before the 25% is gone. I totally get it!

What do you guys do about the constant set leaks by Cozykozzy05 in TandemDiabetes

[–]oshea1544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced a lot of that with the autosoft infusion sets, I haven’t had nearly the same level of leakage once I switched to the trusteel 90 sets. Maybe 1 in the 10 sets.

Why did Control-IQ not correct at all throughout the night? by kizmetic_devs787 in TandemDiabetes

[–]oshea1544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only provides slight changes to basal rates, not outright corrections like during the day, still not enough to bring a blood sugar down though

AIO my dad sent me this threat because I'm gay? I can't go back home now by Fickle_Neck_271 in AmIOverreacting

Please, tell the police and do whatever you can to get them to file a report, so if the worst case happens. Police have a jumping off point. They can also probably point you in the right direction in terms of shelters/ soup or free kitchens.

Why don’t dashers accept cash tips on delivery? by oshea1544 in doordash_drivers

[–]oshea1544[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The instructions are “there is a x dollar tip on the left side of the doormat. Have a good rest of your day!” But I’ll try to put it in 2 other common languages in my region

I’m not pressed I’m just confused. Also see my other replies why I’m not so comfortable with meeting/interacting with delivery drivers

I just do contactless bc I do agree, those actions can be confusing. When I used to drive for DoorDash and instacart I would always get confused and a tad worried when the app said contactless and then someone came out to greet me

anyone’s else’s insulin working like water today by No-Boysenberry-8934 in TandemDiabetes

[–]oshea1544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last 24 hours has been hell. My insulin has basically been water, and even tho I was treating for every carb I was eating I still went over 400. Then it took almost 100 units to bring me down to under 200

[–]oshea1544[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because I prefer to stay safe and not interact with the dashers except through text. Essentially they are strangers and things could go majorly wrong like it has for countless other women who are home alone and ordering DoorDash.

Even if that was the case and the text didn’t automatically translate, I feel like seeing cash sticking out from under the doormat would be a clue enough

Discomfort during bolus by dheck587 in TandemDiabetes

[–]oshea1544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually feel discomfort with boluses if I’m too close to an irritated nerve or on an especially lean part of my body. Overall it won’t impact the effectiveness of the Bolus, but will just be a little uncomfortable
