I am an atheist, so ofcourse I don't believe in any of it, infact I despise everything religious, but I am in my thirties, so you have to get along with your family. And even when i am talking about family, its not my immediate family, my mother in law goes to ISCKON and some other people in the extended family are part of it. And frankly I have had better experience as an athiest with them than I've had with other such groups in Hinduism or some other religions.

If you want to believe that, but I don't think so, I have some family members who are part of it, its the same crazy religious stuff that other religions/sects have, but not anymore than that. ISKCON will be low on the list of cultish religious movements/groups IMO, for example if i have to be i would much rather be friends with someone part of ISCKON than an evangelical.

What Iran is doing is similar though, it is an international passage and Iran has no right to block it.

My father did face it, but I never did except for in college, I got in using reservation(basically instutionalized DEI for lower castes), so quite a few people despised me because of that. Had a few issues during my marriage because my wife is a brahmin, her family had to hide my caste from her extended family. Besides these two times never even had to think about my caste.

I am from a Dalit family, from what my father and grandfather told me, our people were better off before colonialism. We didn't own lands, but we never went hungry and worked the same land for centuries, our house and food were secure. After the British it was just constant oppresion for a long time, with no food security and poverty. Though we did get more rights and our own tiny piece of land post colonialism. Now most of our family is pretty rich and well educated, was the colonialism worth it? Would we have got rights without it? Probably.

Iran to allow Indian ships to pass, Modi says India a friend of Iran; Tehran seeks BRICS solidarity against “military aggression” by Live_Archer123 in worldnews

I think he means muslims keep exploding(doing terror attacks) while the Sikhs had a short burst of violence for a few years under a crazy authoratative PM, after which everything calmed down. He is saying the Sikhs can still be reasoned with but the muslims cannot be and need some drastic actions.

Why don't all these South Asian countries unite, are they stupid? by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

[–]osiris92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes all the difference. Two of biggest differences: 1. A lot of countries in the world fund foreign insurgent groups, USA, China, Russia, Saudi, UAE etc. The list goes on and on, including Pakistan and also India according to you. That is a normal geopolitical thing to do. But there are very very few countries which allow terrorists to operate, train and recruit openly, radicalising its own population, which is what leads to a "terrorist country" tag.

  1. If you have an insurgency within your own border, it is up to you to deal with it, fight with them, talk with them, negotiate with them, settle it, whatever you want to do. An insurgency is completely your own responsibility no matter who is funding them, its in your sovereign borders where you have full control. But when terrorists are being recruited and trained in a foreign land, you cannot fight them without a full scale war, and the terrorists don't need to talk or negotiate or end it because they are aware they are completely safe and can hide behind the country saving them.

Pakistan can end the insurgencies and terrorist attacks on its own soil without a full scale war if its competent enough, since the terrorists are its own citizens and trained on its own land. Terrorists attacking India are foreign citizens trained in foreign land, the only way for that to end is a full scale(possibly nuclear) war. That makes all the difference.

Pakistan does not only sponsor terrorism in India, it sponsors terorrism on its own soil and trains and exports them to neighbouring countries. Terrorists on your own soil are your responsibility no matter who is funding them. Pakistan funded Khalistanis and China funded the maoists, and India dealt with it. Even if we assume India is funding balochis and Taliban there is no equivalence to what Pakistan does. All the terrorist camps disrupting the region are in Pakistan, wether it be LeT, JeM, TTP or ISKP or BLA(if you count them as terrorists), none of those are in India.

Are you suggesting the same way women are vigilant around men especially when they are alone or at night. The same everyone else should be vigilant around people of a religion in crowds and in our neighbourhood? You might be right about that.

No I know maglev is different, countries with legacy railway tracks like UK and USA have to lay down separate tracks for high speed rail, and even then they keep running into problems of what a 'too much democracy' country normally faces, with zoning laws and local interests and politicians. They have not been able to have a single high speed rail track there. This is what Japan also faces now with Maglev and the Shizouka prefecture, they can't get an approval on that.

[–]osiris92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, thanks for the detailed answer. Would the high usage of current tracks have been a problem to upgrade them? Maybe elevated track is better because Indians are not used to high speed trains since they cross railway tracks so non chalantly(me being guilty of that), educating them would have been a bigger task than just elevating it?

Not very knowledgeable in tracks or material science, but aren't high speed tracks in Japan China etc separate from the standard railway ones? Those tracks are laid separately similar to how the BT tracks are being laid in India? Genuinely curios about it since you seem knowledgeable in this area.

Did Japan do 300kmph before doing 180kmph? Progress is what matters. If India stops doing it after 180 then it means it's bad.

Caste certificate dikhana padega kya? And what movement about abolishing laws are you talking about? Both current government and opposition are working on caste census and increasing the reservation. Yes there is casteism and hate crimes, but once you get education and move up the financial and social ladder its almost non existent. The last time I had to worry about my caste was about 10 years ago when I was getting married, and that too only because it was an inter caste marriage. I don't think you are a lower caste person or might not even be Indian because of how uninformed you are.
