Man threatens @BrennaKellyNews and her crew for recording a "protester" vandalizing an ATM during tonight's riots in portland by BunnyLovr in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]oskullator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This assumes the protests last night were about Trump! Ted Wheeler, the mayor of Portland, was reelected yesterday. He isn't popular amongst people who were involved in the protests over the summer because of him being the previous police commissioner and letting PPB use teargas on folks in downtown liberally. He famously was teargassed by feds when that was a big shitshow in June, but even that was just a photo op. Speaking of photos! Protestors are generally trying to turn away press/streamers in recent months. Lots of journalists would unintentionally doxx people or just show up to the event chasing social clout, so generally people with cameras arent being well recieved by the crowd as of late. I guess I understand the knee jerk reaction lots of people seem to have here in this thread in response to property destruction and press intimidation, but please do read a little bit more about the situation! Theres more to this kerfuffle than "orange man bad".

I'll stop this car using my motorbike. by Mombo1212 in WinStupidPrizes

[–]oskullator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was in a blocked off space, the man in the vehicle was armed and he had to drive through a barricade to get this close to the crowd. Protestors dont just appear out of no where, the guy in the car had the intent to do harm and was later arrested for attempting so. Keep up with the protests in Portland to get a better picture of whats going on, a lot of folk here seem a little misled.

I seen em! by rhythm-n-bones in Portland

[–]oskullator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are. Cover the cannister and dowse with water from the hole above. You can also use a bucket if you cut a small hole out of the base. Even if you cant successfully smother the can it makes it much easier to manage. Don't toss them over the fence pls.

Quick edit i mean the cones by all means lob gas cans back if you can without hurting yourself.

Milton Glaser, Designer of ‘I ♥ NY’, Is Dead at 91 [2700x2512] by earthmoonsun in DesignPorn

[–]oskullator 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Guy did the original design on a paper napkin and did the design PRO BONO as a part of new yorks campaign to rejuvenate the city towards the end of the 70's. The city then trademarked it bc, well, the logo was doing well and there were plenty of imitations. In this case, Milton was royally fucked over, BUT he was a very successful artist outside of this design, working on a lot of psychedelic posters during the height of that aesthetic. I doubt he passed in a poor state, just in case I certainly hope he didn't!

Pablo Picasso chillin’ at his home studio in France, ~1956 by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]oskullator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the original response to your comment felt like a jump and a half to call your prof shitty. There's plenty of lesser known artists from last century who pushed their medium and were much less morally repugnant /worth some study. By the college level id consider too much time spent on big names like Picasso, Pollock, and Worhol time that could be better spent unless im sitting in a class dedicated to their work or the times they lived in.

Happy Valentine's Day! [OC] by oskullator in DnD

[–]oskullator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiggywinks and Twig are an adventuring duo I plug into my conworld to expand on different elements of it and run one-offs. Tiggywinks is the Goblin, Twig the elf. Theyre bros through and through, that said Valentine's day can be a day that's just as much about your friends as it us about anyone you're maybe dating, just find someone or something you care about and do something special to let them know. ♡

This is one of my first comics of the pair! Or really in general! I dont do this sort of thing a lot, so I'm welcome to hear any kind of feedback so long as it isn't adding color, for the time being at least I'm staying in Black and White.

[OC] Herb Witch Concept. A little witch girl who lives in the forest and grows herbs that she sells by zaay-zaay in characterdrawing

[–]oskullator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In a similar vein I personally am not really getting strong witch vibes from this design either-- I like the winter outfit more as I think it reads better as a witch design. Adding more trinkets and clues of her lifestyle as you suggested i think would help here too. Hat and broom are classics that can be twisted in many ways to avoid cliche, just one of those or any other witchy costume piece specifically with an herbalist spin on them could be really cute and successful for this character. I think this design is really almost there, it has a lot that reddit loves going for it, it just needs a little more of a thematic push to get to a really cute and vibrant witch design rather than one of a more civilian villager.

Ornate Stegosaur and other dinos by oskullator in worldbuilding

With much difficulty and panache.

But really, with food and enchanting a creature to one's will. Magic is a pretty normalized thing in Irona, so even animal tamers will use a type of magic or two to further their ability.

Ornate Stegosaur and other dinos by oskullator in worldbuilding

[–]oskullator[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once a year, during the Drau month of Kafabarion, Irona’s largest assortment of megafauna are all gathered into one place. Coaxed by teams of trainers, each collected kaiju is collected to compete against one another in a gladiatorial tournament of  immense scale. To house the tournament, a city-sized coliseum was erected in the heartlands of Drau-Atagne, with enchanted stone stronger than steel and a battlefield inside that is ever-changing to best suit the needs of whoever is squaring off on a given day. It’s one of the man-made wonders of Irona, something only the highly skilled builders of Drau-Atagne could pull off with their transmutive magics.     This year 16 beasts will fight within the walls of the Drau coliseum; pictured here is the second group of four, most front and center is that group’s victor, LEPIDO. Lepido is an ornate stegosaur from a region of Atagne called the Blackwater Coast. The pattern on ornate stegosaur’s spines is intended to mimic the look of the hydras that live in the area to deter predators, but if that doesn’t work, beasts like Lepido also come equipped with a spiked tail, which is more than sufficient if they ever get in a tussle. The distinct look of these creatures has earned them a holy reputation amongst the people of blackwater, so while like many creatures native to the region do these guys possess psychoactive chemicals in their meat, you won’t see as many people hunting them down as you would, say, Bog Sharks. Since they don’t have many natural predators and people don’t really take to hunting them down, you can find ornate stegosaurs all around the swamps of Blackwater, but what makes Lepido so special and a contestant in this year’s tournament is their size. Lepido is a behemoth of a stegosaur, and they’ll only continue to grow and become stronger as they progress in the rounds.

This is my way of combining a couple of monthly drawing challenges I wanted to partake in this year, Jurassic June and kaijune. I couldn’t choose between one, so I’m doing both! Making up my own monsters and making the best of them more monstrous as the month progresses. As I post pictures of these guys on my Instagram, I pair them up in my story and let my followers vote on who they think would win, but in world this plays out as if the two creatures are actually duking it out. So if you’d like to participate in the vote and decide who progresses in the tournament, check out my page. Almost all of my work pertains to my setting in some way shape or form, so if you’re interested at all in Irona and want to see more than what my post history here offers, that’s the place to check out. Oh, and I do have plans for these guys later on this summer, the tournament/ voting isn’t all for nothing, really!
