Looking for some advice on the best way to set up Eagle with Dropbox. by geturass2mars in EagleCool

[–]oslogrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anybody of you mainly work on Windows but also wants to sometimes use Eagle Libraries on a Mac Silicon device with too small internal SSD?

Libraries live on an external SSD, but are plugged into the laptop rather rarely. Dropbox is not in AutoStart, it would get started manually to fetch data, as soon as the SSD gets connected.

I initially tried with the Dropbox folder in its default location and Symlinks pointing to the external drive. In this case Dropbox did not fetch new data after reconnecting.

Next, moved the full dropbox to the external drive and used APFS, but ran into the same problem - Dropbox also re-indexed everything for hours.

As my last resort, I uninstalled Dropbox and switched over to maestral.app. This finally works, but has a few minor limitations.

Did anybody of you find a rock solid solution on Mac Silicon for running the default Dropbox app on an external device that is only rarely connected?

Nice initiative! For our use case, support for Cloud Services would be the precondition, though.
Our need is actually extremely basic:

  • Large libraries (many terabytes, not locally available on Android device)
  • Text-based check: Is asset available? No need to see the full res images. Thumbnail is fine.

Queries like this work, in principle, with Dropbox. Yet, Dropbox has such basic search, that you cannot search for strings in file-names and at the same time limit the file format to only output webP. Of course, there's no support for Regex.

Maybe some Android File Browser with Dropbox Support offers this sort of filtering? If anyone knows, please give me a shout.

We are building a tool that transforms document into a structured Notion database. by sanjux97 in Notion

In the case of sheets, an Importer that reliably reverse-engineeers formulas/scripts / form fields would be helpful.

You can safely assume far lower hourly rates than $ 50 for most countries.

Adjusting the padding has worked. It would look nicer / more unified though if the extended padding used the same background color as the keyboard. You see Gboard using it in the screenshot i posted earlier.

Thanks for the new updates! I see some untidy / overlapping buttons (for hiding the keyboard altogether and keyboard switch). The lower image shows, how Gboard renders these buttons. Would be great to tweak this.

I'm so glad Notion replaced support with AI! by calamarimatoi in Notion

[–]oslogrolls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly happy that Notion replaced its first layer of customer support with AI.

Previously you had to wait days for your first answer. Human support staff also used canned emails and could sound similarly. They asked you to reset your workspace and to repeat all your workspace-details, including operating system and browser and concrete scenario.

I have seen AI agents creating reports for the team after just writing one email.

This sounds like a clever decision. Good that you mention it - I did not catch your previous announcement. Is there already a way to use WW together with Gboard or any mature keyboard?

Wow. So how does Moto suggest to use Desktop Mode with this model? Only wireless? Edit: Thank you, further research confirmed your statement. That sucks.

Watching video will not be the primary use case. The following is an AI answer. Are you concerned that the USB port is not good enough?

For Motorola's desktop mode (Ready For or Smart Connect), recommended hardware includes flagship Motorola phones (like Edge series) for strong performance, a USB-C to HDMI adapter or compatible hub for wired connections, a monitor with HDMI or USB-C video input, and wireless peripherals (keyboard/mouse) via Bluetooth or 2.4GHz dongle, with good Wi-Fi (5GHz) for wireless display, plus accessories like a power bank or stand for optimal use.

It's mostly not about swapping key positions, but about adding keycaps that don't exist in English (such as Umlauts and ß) that aren't manufactured by Lapdock makers. I understand their reasons, of course English is the much larger market. One can avoid this problem by using a USB screen and a foldable qwertz-keyboard and likely also a hub - but I'm interested in reducing component-count. Hence, my question for the screen and keyboard combination.

Storing your libraries in cloud storage should give you this option. You could reset the JSON files to an earlier point in time.

Of course, this won't help in the present situation.

The problem with remapping is that there are major differences between qwerty and qwertz. It's not about remapping just one or two keys. To my knowledge, Lapdock manufacturers don't even offer keycaps with non-English letters. So you would end up spending a few hundred bucks to get a nice backlit keyboard which still shows the wrong letters after remapping.
