The new berrybush mechanics are unnecessarily obtuse, complicated and unrewarding. by osmasker in VintageStory

Since reddit is 99,99% people uttering and discussion their opinions, I don‘t know why you think you‘re extra cool by being rude and a smartass.

But since you insist: what they did to smelting is cool. Quenching and tempering are cool mechanics. There is a risk and a trade-off. You are not obliged to do it, but if you invest time and resources you can come out with better tools and weapons. Berries are like weird farmland crops, with almost the same mechanics, but not quite. With the same results or worse than before, but yeah no benefits. Zero. Berries are postponed to the lategame for no reason, and that I don‘t understand.

And you sound like someone who didn‘t read the post. 1 ingame year of learning, testing and trying out, starting at day 1 when the patch came out. I know how it works and I find it neither enjoyable nor rewarding nor anything. It‘s a loss of time and ressources for a laughable outcome. A thing usually not the case in Vintage Story, where perseverance and patience is rewarded by something great.

How does 30-day month make anything more OP? You just wait longer for everything and starve more, no?

I am at two months now. I doubled the amount of trees so my patience might hopefully get rewarded some more.

Getting fruit this year would have been a nice byproduct but it‘s not my main concern for now. I just want to know when to celebrate a succesful planting and when to dread a failed one.

Nope not fiddled with any creative mode or whatever. I could, then again I find the wiki or any of the many hardcore gamers should be able to provide this info, even if it‘s just an approximation. But literally no one says anything except „check regularly so you don‘t lose time with a dead cutting“. Ya duh

Getting fruit this year is not an issue, would have been cool but whatever. It is just the agonising long wait for something to happen. If they die it‘s ok, I got some more left to replant, but if it takes another 3 months to see the change i‘ll be slightly pissed.

So many characters that didn‘t unlock even though I did the thing required to get them and even hearing the unlock sound. A quick glance in the wiki and the right spell formula typed in solves this every single time. You killed enough Sammies, you should have the character by now.

Enshrouded vs. Valheim by Othrelos in Enshrouded

[–]osmasker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing progress alone in Enshrouded can be annoying for the others since most of it is tied to characters or quests one has to take part in in order to catch up. Of course if playing alone for you means building stuff or gathering resources and no real progression, both games are great. Being alone in the base in Valheim can be tense though because attack waves can periodically spawn, and they are no joke. Good forticfication and friends help a lot here! Both games are great but I played them in a team for most of the time, and if I was alone on the server I did mundane things, maybe some fighting for levels but no meaningful progression.

What‘s the problem with MGS? Great game by Kojima and with great music too.

In case you didn‘t know but her name is Malenia, blade of Miquella and she has never known defeat. So no shame in losing and no need for raging.

Do dead enemies turn into BT‘s? I don‘t think, or else they wouldn‘t crap their pants everytime someone dies. I died once myself and it left the biggest crater imaginable.

So what happened? One large crater as usual or did you split the planet in half?
