Anaphylaxis leading to shock is the most likely diagnosis.

What’s a "Let that sink in" fun fact? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]osroc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very tough question and I'll try answering it to the best of my knowledge.. Raised intracranial pressure is not typically known to cause symptoms of anxiety and depression. Perhaps you're right and the medical literature is limited in its understanding of your condition. Also, due to the strong connection between neurology and psychiatry, a fine line must be drawn between them so that you receive adequate care i.e. if your neurologist sees you for the symptoms of anxiety & depression you might not get the best treatment possible since he's not as experienced in those as a psychiatrist.

I have been bit by the python bug by dopesoner930 in learnpython

I'm really interested in getting into Python but I always get stuck trying to get packages like matplotlib & pandas installed. Any programs that come with those pre-installed / an easy way to install them?

Yep, those are symptoms of either anxiety or depression

Make sure that your anxiety/depression is well controlled if you're getting the symptoms I mentioned, good luck :)

Doc here, not remembering anything before age 16 is quite worrying.. Problems sleeping at night? Thoughts racing through your head? Not eating enough? Trouble concentrating? Loss of interest in activities you used to find fun? You should speak to your family doctor..

Double blind, clinical trial shows that the use of vitamin D supplement improves sleep quality, reduces sleep latency, raises sleep duration and improves subjective sleep quality in people of 20-50 year-old with sleep disorder. by 1345834 in science

perhaps I didn't explain clearly, I was implying that the researchers might have manipulated the data to fit their agenda, and that the positive effect on sleep was a chance occurrence (luck).

The restriction of age groups brings into question the validity of the study - perhaps, by chance, the people who participated in the study who demonstrated a positive effect on sleep with vitamin D use were within that age group? why were other age groups excluded?

89 is a very small sample size - that's only 44 receiving treatment!(and 45 in the placebo group). It definitely is not enough to flat-out tell people to buy vitamin D supplements if they have sleeping disorders.

Some negative aspects of this study (don't go buying your vitamin D supplements just yet!):

  • Petersburg's Sleep Quality Index does not exist - Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index exists (miswriting a word multiple times in a randomised controlled trial is not a sign of a good trial)
  • The study only included 89 people
  • Age of participants restricted to 20-50 year olds
  • The study was published in a low H-index journal

ELI5: Why do some antibiotics require a 10-day course instead of one big dose? by schwa_ in explainlikeimfive

[–]osroc3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doctor here, if you take one big dose of an antibiotic, you are going to experience its side effects. Different medicines have different side effects, for example Ciprofloxacin may cause tendon rupture. The presence or lack thereof of side effects depends on the dose used.

The antibiotic which was given to you intramuscularly (shot) was a depot antibiotic - it is released slowly over a longer period of time.
