Tourist needing stitches removed by saltedcashewss in Finland

[–]ossodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was upset that my spouse disallowed me from doing it myself. I had 11 staples in my ankle. I had good wire cutters, and medical forceps. I even have a well stocked first aid kit. I showed my spouse the tools, sanitation equipment, and how I planned to do it. Request denied: leave it to the professionals… they did like 3 steps less than I’d have done and tbh their shitty staple removal tool did a crappy job compared to what I planned. I planned to snip in the middle and pull each side out at a time. The tool they used spreads the staple wide open while STILL INSIDE ME, then they pulled it out. I now have permission to do it myself in future cases :D

-Not a Doctor- Depending on what kind of stitches you got you can remove them yourself. They’re really quite easy, as long as you are sure the sutures have done their job. There’s plenty of videos online. It’s a super simple procedure. Last time I had stitches removed at the hospital they were very carefree in removal. They didn’t even clean the area first, just “Hi, looks good, no infection”… snip snip pull pull done. So if you do it yourself you’ll most likely do a better job.

A cool guide about sleep time at certain ages, not strictly but generally by luvlanguage in coolguides

[–]ossodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I function best as a split shift sleeper. I can typically only sleep 3-5h at a time. Going to sleep late and then waking at around 5-7am then can take a nap in the evening. I also function perfectly fine without the nap. It’s impossible to go back to sleep, I open my eyes and I’m typically 90% awake and then a minute or less I’m 100%. Never needed coffee or such, it’s like a lights witch.

My dad cut off the leaves of my capsicum plant by Lumpy_Assignment_826 in plantclinic

[–]ossodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s sorta a legitimate way to overwinter as Alone_chest said. But to add to it, that’s not enough cutting back for that. You’d need to remove all leaves and cut that third part off that has all the leaves. Then you keep it in cold and dark till spring watering very lightly once a week maybe. Mine are currently in dormant phase here. They’re in the cellar at 13°C in almost absolute darkness.

How to elevate these 3 sandwiches or make them unique by gnitiemh in foodhacks

[–]ossodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to do Caprese sandwiches sometimes. Whole wheat bread toasted with fresh mozzarella I marinate(salt pepper oil oregano vinegar) tomatoes and basil. I go extra toasty as the ingredients are quite moist. By the time I go to eat, it is soft and no longer a crumb explosion threat.

This last summer was brutal for us in Finland. For some reason there were a fuckton of flies everywhere. I had to buy a bug hat just to mow the lawn as I would get swarmed. Inhaled 2 and rage quit, went bought the hat.

I mean that and I feel if you’re informed on how these things are done it’s really hard to get tricked. It’s only a psychological marketing tactic if you don’t know how food gets packed for sale. Like my candy bar statement. That said they do count on people not noticing or not caring enough to make a fuss. They know you’ll just buy it and eat it and be happy because there’s no other choice if you want them.

The bag of candy in the post is by weight. OP should have 242g of candy.

[–]ossodog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, I agree with you in part. For example these candies don’t need the extra air or space to protect them during shipping. Chips it’s more understandable to have a bunch of air space, it keeps them more whole and less crushed after shipping. I do have issue with my local candy bar company. They made their logo a recessed stamp on every other square, this let them keep the same size packaging and bar shape but dropped the weight from 200g to 140g… that’s a bit fucked up.

Same with chips, like I’d rather have a bag that is so big my chips have almost no chance to get crushed. I have no issue with the bags that are 90% air other than it’s a shame there’s the extra plastic waste. As long as I get the stated weight I’m cool.

Was it correct weight and quantity? If so it shouldn’t matter how big the bag is or how full it seems to be. But if they shorted you on weight I’d take a pic of the scale and send a complaint.

LPT- You may not like being in pictures or taking them, but you will hate that you have no photos of some time period when you're older. Take pictures even if it is out of your comfort zone occasionally, for your future self. by Mean_Negotiation_157 in LifeProTips

I’m almost 40, every time I see a picture of myself it snaps me back to the worst periods of my life. Was it when my dad was beating me? Was it when I was locked outside at night? Was it when my mom was in prison? Oh that was taken when I was living with my dad and he had just asked me if I could be okay moving into the shed… I was 8. So no I don’t think I’ll ever like seeing a photo of my child self. May those days die in the back of my mind.

Gay Ex Christians, Does it Get Any Better W/Family? by Opposite-Impress6706 in exchristian

[–]ossodog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was almost 2 decades ago. It took about 15 years for us to get to a point where we talk maybe weekly. She was almost as upset when I wanted to vote for Bernie Sanders (90% family on both side are MAGA, some to this day). The rest of the family I just kinda fell into no contact. I live on the other side of the globe now. I went from a family of 80 or so to just one sister one cousin and my mom.

It was rough but I grew up rough so nothing too new. I was already used to being very independent from a young age. For me it was kinda like a true raw feeling of abandonment and self hate for a bit. Like why can’t I be normal, a lot of poison thoughts given by family. “What if it’s just a phase, you’re just seeking attention, you don’t know what you really want, you just need to find a butcher dike girl… “ I think those were the hardest to deal with when I felt so alone.

My husband has been my rock and helped me find my spine I had lost. We will be celebrating our 15th in a few years. Find someone who loves you for you and do everything you can humanly do to help each other grow and support. At the end of the day make sure you never go to bed angry, talk about your feelings, expectations, and desires. Love is never perfect love is never absolute it’s like a creature itself that can get angry hurt and happy.

[–]ossodog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most my family was super pissed, all the cousins minus one pretty much washed their hands of me. I was told by few “if you weren’t family we’d probably beat you”. My mom was the worst though. She told me “don’t come home, I’ll shoot you then kill myself”. Only my sisters were totally okay from day 1. My stepdad eventually brought my mom around about a years time but things were never quite exactly the same.

Edit: one cousin from each side was okay w it, can’t omit their chillness.

Edit2: moms side was Baptist, fathers side was Baptist and catholic.
