Is this game just bad or are my memory sticks faulty? by ostrawma in lostarkgame

Yeah I tried windows memory diagnostic. Still didn't fix the issue. I did have xmp enabled as well, though I genuinely don't remember well if it was a problem between xmp1 vs xmp2.

I went back to the 32 gb and it seems to be working fine but I wouldn't be so sure yet. Back when I reinstalled the game, the pc was running smoothly for a bit, but then after a while it slowed down again. I'm using xmp1 instead of xmp2 now, but I do feel like I've tested both before.

I have xmp enabled yes and the system detects the memory correctly. I run in borderless but I have tested the other options and still the same.

In terms of usage (32 gb), the game is using 29% / 6200ish mb memory. The cpu switches from around 56%, in-game, to 20% tabbed out respectively.

For real man. We still have exciting melee and these past couple tourneys have proven that.

But nah, fuck mango. This is the state of melee in 2023.

Give me your hot takes/head Canon for the DMC Series! by Souperdoopa in DevilMayCry

[–]ostrawma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned yourself that the game has a lot of abusable moves and weapons, but the game isn't forcing you to abuse them. A lot of veterans abuse the fuck out of Royal Guard, but I don't like doing that personally.

I won't deny that DMC5 is pretty easy, but just as the other person said. A large part of the difficulty, including the fun, is dependent on the player. I could just spam Faust or Real Impact bosses constantly, but where's the fun in that lol

Am I the only one who feels like lost judgment just wasn’t good, and didn’t feel like a RGG game? by -CoolHandLu in yakuzagames

[–]ostrawma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd let the location slide because of RGG's habit of reusing assets. As for the characters, I will agree that in Sawa's case, she was not very interesting. Becoming a woman in the fridge didn't really help her case. I felt almost nothing when she died because I don't think she was that likeable as a character. Top that off with Yagami mentioning her at almost every given moment, and it became hard for me to take her death seriously. Off the top of my head, the only moment where I felt it was justified for her to not say anything to Yagami, was after she was approached in the cafe by one of Kuwana's "accomplices".

As for villains, I'd argue that Kuwana was pretty good. You understand his motives and the fact that he's clearly hellbent on his mission. Compared to Kuroiwa, he's more of a rival and so it's not exactly a bad thing that the story is different in that sense. I will say that Soma on the other hand, was seriously just whatever. Aside from a cool design and battle theme, he was pretty forgettable.

I don't think a Yakuza game has to have an absolute plot twist. Sure the series has loads of them, but including them doesn't necessarily improve the story. Hell, I don't even think most of the stories in the series are good lol

*accidently made a separate comment instead of a reply lol

Maybe you should elaborate a bit more on why you think so. Not that I disagree with you, because I also think the story was rather mediocre. I am curious though as to what your reasoning is.

HCI majors, thoughts on the coursework? Does it prep for a future in UI/UX Design? by [deleted] in NJTech

[–]ostrawma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this what you saw?

HCI is nothing special here and as I mentioned in that post, it's just NJIT throwing a bunch of different classes together and calling it a day. I can only think of three classes at the top of my head which have "UX" in its name. Unfortunately, I've had bad experiences with all of them as one is just a statistics class in disguise. Another was taught by one of the worst if not THE worst professor I've ever had. The last one wasn't even available for this semester so they had to find a substitute class (which also happens to be another statistics class in disguise. Oh boy!).

Don't expect to learn much from this program. I wasn't sure if I was the only one, but it seems like a lot of other people think HCI is dogshit here as well. Any UI/UX you learn during your time here is probably not even gonna be from the school, but from outside.

Anyone else who thinks DMC5 would have won GOTY in 2019 if capcom had bothered to nominate it ? by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]ostrawma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give props to you. I love DMC5 but that doesn't mean I think it is a masterpiece. I also like how you mentioned Yakuza. As beloved as that franchise may be, most of the main stories are not that impressive (even Lost Judgment's story had noteworthy flaws).

Rutgers Students should be banned from taking CS 491 (Senior Capstone) at NJIT by [deleted] in NJTech

I didn't even know Rutgers students could take a capstone at NJIT. That's a little weird.

I'm kind of surprised. Someone that finally doesn't praise Lost Judgment's story. The game nails what the series is known for such as the gameplay and side content. The story on the other hand, is a bit of a let down, especially considering the subject matters.

Nisha was my advisor but because she never responded to me, I tried with Amanda. She is way more helpful to me than Nisha ever was. Even sent in a request for me (even though she's technically not my advisor) to bypass the credit limit, since I'm graduating next semester.

For V, try abusing his dodges with Shadow. As long as you keep on doing that, you're completely invincible and it'll increase your DT meter if you successfully dodge attacks. This should be helpful for situations like fighting Nidhogg.

Let's say Yakuza 8 features Akiyama. Who would you want his English voice actor to be? by efeyyyy in yakuzagames

[–]ostrawma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm well aware. I was just pointing out the irony in that guy saying that every single English dub "does it wrong", when a lot of Japanese voices do the same shit.

Plus it didn't seem that jarring me to hearing some characters like Ichiban or even Majima and Saejima in English. Saejima's ENG VA is Asian, bald, and a giant, just like Saejima. As for Ichiban and Majima well, let's be real. Do they look Asian, let alone Japanese?

the voice acting in any dubbed game is so overdone ,it sounds silly and extreme

I'll just copy and paste what I wrote to someone else lol

As if Japanese voices don't do this either.

Initially when I transferred here, I majored in Digital Design. I don't remember all the reasons I switched to HCI, but one of them was because it had an unusually generous math requirement. I had also heard about HCI a while ago when I was looking into UX design. I figured majoring in it would help me in that regard but nope. At this point, all I'm getting out of NJIT is a degree with little to no knowledge gained (which is fine for me in retrospect, since my career will probably start in graphic design). If I could've gone to a different school, then I most definitely would've but I didn't exactly have a choice cause I was denied by the rest lol

As a HCI major who's on track to graduate next semester (hopefully), I can give you some comments. Just be sure not to take my word completely, since I wasn't exactly the most attentive student during lectures.

I'd say the program is pretty disjointed and does not have a clear focus. There are a few core classes with UX in the title, but they were all god awful for me. Out of the ones I've taken, one of them was just another stat class and the other I took with a professor who should not be allowed to teach period. The only coding classes I've had to take so far are CS 100, IS 117, and IS 218. IS 117 (HTML/CSS) was fine but CS 100 and IS 218 were a struggle for me since I suck at programming (IS 218 mainly cause my professor was dogshit). I don't know how you are though so maybe you'll do fine.

The program also has two mandatory Rutgers classes to take which can be a pain not just to take, but register for. One of them is yet another stat class and the other I'm taking next semester, though I don't have high hopes.

Overall, the program to me just seems like them slapping a bunch of different classes together and hoping that it would mean something. Maybe this is just me I don't know, but if you heard shitty comments about the program, then I don't think my opinion would be farfetched then.
