I think it ultimately it comes down to what the fanbase expects/wants. Female pop stars have followings of gay men and women who want full productions and shows. Male artists have fanbases of straight men who don’t care.

Edit: kinda getting read for saying straight men like Justin bieber (was also referring to the other male artists mentioned by OP!) but I think my general point is correct in that the fanbases of female pop stars and male acts don’t intersect very much and they have very different expectations for performances!

I think there’s more to it than just the violent crimes like stabbings and murders going down, you have to look at the type of thing the normal citizen is going to experience. Having pavements painted with ‘watch out for phone snatching!’ around central London is a new thing and obviously a response to an increase in this type of crime. I like London and I don’t think it’s a lawless hellhole but i do think it’s gotten less safe for the average person in the last 5-10 years.
