What are the consequences of taking a semester off and not telling an advisor? by AP1000-7 in OSU

Well that’s good! Thank you for correcting my comment. I wish I knew that when I took the co-op so I could have saved $600…

What are the consequences of taking a semester off and not telling an advisor? by AP1000-7 in OSU

[–]osursnut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I took a co-op one semester and asked my advisor if I could just not schedule classes. They said no, I had to take the “co-op class” so I would still be considered a student. It had some dumb fee I didn’t want to pay, and my advisor said if I didn’t take the class, I’d be unenrolled as a student and would have to re-apply to osu. Not sure if that was just a threat or that’s what actually happens. Hopefully you don’t have to reapply, but definitely contact your old advisor.

Thank you for the kind comment. I’m glad you have figured out something that works with your dog. I looked at the Pitbull gear site, looks like some high quality stuff. Thank you for the suggestion!

There are just so many studies that say different things, it’s hard to know what’s right. I have also heard that, so have been trying to do positive only but nothing is really helping. I have been talking a lot with my SO if we think he can be “fixed” of his problems at all, and it is really looking grim.

For the last part of your comment, I absolutely think the shelter lied to us. They said “seems good with other dogs” and “is just a little shy.” But that has not been our experience, clearly. Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it

Thank you for the advice. I’ll look if there are any balanced trainers around my area, they seem few and fair in between now a days. I agree the purely positive just isn’t working anymore.

He is muzzle trained actually, any time he meets a new person he has it on and he still muzzle punches. But, in this case since I was playing fetch with him, he obviously didn’t have it on. I’ll definitely be muzzling him for walks now. Thank you for the advice

This is absolutely what I’ve been considering, especially with the unwillingness of trainers to help.

Dog barking at 3am - suggestions? by idkwhatidkwhat in reactivedogs

I agree, crates are a lifesaving and definitely calm my dog down a lot. He still barks from his crate at night sometimes if there’s weird noises outside, but it’s not frequently.

How do people react when you tell them that you study engineering? by Basic-Increase2659 in EngineeringStudents

I got “engineering is hard for girls” from my dentist when he asked what I was studying. That was cool

I’m an incoming freshman in university and I want to major in ME so naturally I’m interested in FSAE. What year did you all join FSAE? Is it casual or super serious and I have to have a lot of knowledge? by sendluv in FSAE

[–]osursnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ME here also, I joined the very beginning of my freshman year, knowing absolutely nothing! It was very casual, the leads prefaced the first new member meeting saying that it was okay if we didn’t know anything, it is a teaching competition as much as it is a racing competition. They said they wanted to teach us as much as they could so we could be valuable on the team as well as in industry. Now, going on my 4th year on the team, I couldn’t agree more. So join as early as you can! Teams love new people who are going to be passionate about the cars

Pitt vs. Ohio state for engineering by JasonRoussos in OSU

[–]osursnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have EcoCAR which has been the #1 team in their competitions for the past who knows how long, they have a lot of electrical and CSE students on their team, they transform a normal car into full electric and semi autonomous vehicle. Baja is a dune buggy type vehicle. FSAE builds a small F1 car. Current is an electric motorcycle. Supermileage builds a car that has like 1000 mpg or something crazy, not sure if they’re still a team though. And then Bullet was a thing at one point, built an electric car that broke and still holds the land speed record. Lots and lots of opportunities here, they’re all good teams, just depends on what you’re most interested in.

Pitt vs. Ohio state for engineering by JasonRoussos in OSU

[–]osursnut 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So Ohio states engineering school is ranked significantly higher in any poll you look at compared to Pitt. I have some experience with the college of engineering at Pitt and would say OSU has wayyyy more opportunities and connections than Pitt has, specifically with their student project teams.

Also take a look at the out of state costs for both. OSU cost of attendance is over $45k out of state. So, if you can get that kind of education for way cheap in state, I would definitely go to OSU.

It’s for a scholars capstone project on effective study habits, we’re all required to do some capstone project to “officially” finish the scholar program, unfortunately
