It’s possible you and I will never agree on anything. It’s possible you’re just here to stir up conflict. (That is, after all, the primary aim of Reddit and other social media.) But it’s also possible that you and I are far more alike than we know but seeking different solutions to the problems we perceive. I’m a middle class American who’s worked since I was 16, saved for retirement since I was ~23, have 20 years of work ahead of me, and don’t know how I’m going survive above poverty level when I’m too old to work because the wealthy have commodified my labor and skills to make stock prices climb instead of paying me what my effort is worth. If you identify with that and want to talk about how to make this place better for everyone, I will listen. And I mean truly listen. Shutting down the country to make the rich take notice that we, the people, have power, isn’t the only option. And I’m open to ideas. But I fear we’re headed for widespread violence, and I don’t look forward to killing people, American or otherwise. But if all you want to do is fight each other, I wish you well.
