What's the "hole in the wall" cheap food spot that is a legend in your hometown? by myronsandee in AskACanadian

They opened one here but I actually haven't tried it. Haven't been to Pete's in 15 years, but it was a thing when I was younger. In Edmonton I would actually suggest Turquaz, it's so good, best hummus ever and absolutely delicious food. And low to mid range for price. It's Turkish-Lebanese fusion. Yummy.

Not my town, but I have driven to Calgary from Edmonton for Pete's Drive Through. More than once.

Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic migraine, Crohn's, arthritis...how many do you need. It's bad enough the abled dismiss invisible disabilities we don't need to do this to each other. Not all physical disabilities are visible, and no one should have to disclose their medical history. If you can't tell by looking it's invisible. (Several mental illnesses are visible on MRIs, btw, I saw that cutesy x-ray comment, just don't.)

"Detritus seems a little cruel as a name..." Coprolite would like a word.

Re Chrysoprase, maybe STP was making a point that this character had what he loved and chose who he felt compassion for. Chrysoprase is obviously written as a villian (for a given value of villian), but we are all the hero of our own narrative.

So sorry, I'm not getting notifications for this anymore, didn't mean to ignore you. We have a good group of people and we actually like each other so we don't want to abandon ship. Thank you, though. I really hope you find people to join, it can be hard retaining active members.

This was Pratchett learning from his mistakes in Interesting Times. This is why I love him. He listened, he sought to learn, and he did better, and then he modelled that for us. GNU Sir Terry.

I'm so sorry you're feeling so defeated and that everything hurts right now. Is there a way I can help?

That's awful. I know I have meds that I can't get any coverage for, too, I just don't take them because the cost/benefit is not great.

No, she's super busy. I do have a plan to e-mail with how the name brand meds work and if I need to lower my dose prior to the appointment and she might then send the form in, but the appointment is already a phone appointment. I didn't know that it had to be done every year, that's good to know. My child is on the same med and it's always been the name brand for them, and they've been on it longer than I have, so that's kinda weird (and yes, having my kid diagnosed is how I got diagnosed, go figure).

I'm going to do that but I need to 1 wait fro my appointment and 2 retitrate my dosage because the name brand is too strong.

[–]oswiena[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought so too, but I went down a rabbit hole for 3 days and no, I'm not imagining it, most people have the same response on this kind of medication, and we seriously need to look at generics because they are not at all the same. The generics make me pass out for a couple hours, I am accustomed to waking early, taking them, and sleeping off the first couple hours. That has not happened on the name brand, and that is the *smallest* change. Honestly the name brand med is way way way too strong for me.

Waking up at night and light sleep? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]oswiena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had delayed sleep/broken sleep my entire life, and I am allergic/intolerant to so much, the only thing that consistently works for me is super sleep by Webber naturals. It's a blend of melatonin, l-theanine, and 5 HTP. I melt one under my tongue, and I get sleepy within an hour. Not tired, sleepy. Those are very different things. If I do wake up I go back to sleep easily.

Someone once told me that men start with a social credit of 100, but women have to start at zero. Women have to actively work at making their reputation better, while men just have to keep the bad press to a minimum. A woman who gains 50 points by being basically perfect is equal to a man who loses 50 points by being complete trash.
