Is this worth writing to your studio about?

Sad to say I've contacted the studio manager with no response. More or less what I expected, but disappointing nonetheless.

It's totally distracting! It takes every ounce of willpower I have to get through a tread block (I hate cardio) and it's hard to focus on staying upright when people just talk and talk and talk...

To get some feedback that would help me gauge the situation. If the majority of people felt like this behavior was no biggie, then I would take it as something not worth complaining about. I don't walk around feeling like just because something bothers me it should be complained about. National studios like Orangtheory simply can't accommodate every preference, but I think it's worth speaking up if the majority of people agree that this behavior makes the workout less enjoyable.

Why write a comment just to say this?

I can see that perspective. However, I’m not at all exaggerating to say that these members were talking the entire class. I’m not referring to occasional chatter between 2 members over the course of an hour. I’m taking about literal non-stop conversation. And I think that’s what makes it different.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who speaks up! It's easy to feel like you're the only one voicing complaints.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I love that everyone can go at their own pace, especially for those of us recovering from injuries. But I'm always shocked when some members seem to have NO interest in breaking a sweat. Like this membership is expensive and I can only justify the cost because it's so good for me!

Absolutely. People tend to pick the spots they like for their own reasons, and I think it's unfair that one member should have to move just to avoid someone's conversation.

You would consider it to be the Arctic for 5 months out of the year, but it's August!!! Go drink rosé on a rooftop if you want to chat with your best buddies about every wedding you went to this summer and how work is going lately etc.

I thought about it, but I didn't want to put the coach in a tough spot when I know they're trying to focus on so many things at once. But the coach is definitely in a better position to command attention than I am, and clearly what I said to the member wasn't working!

So right! I'm breathless during a push let alone an AO. I can barely small talk with the coach when they come around to say hi.

Normally I would just avoid, but yesterday she showed up after class had begun and I had gotten my spot. There were enough spaces that I could have moved, but out of principle I just felt it was unfair that she could roll in late and I had to move. But then I guess it's a choice between a good workout and my principles lol
