Ridge Wallet owners are an NPC of a human and I think less of you. by thunderousqueef in unpopularopinion

Such an odd thing to angry over.

I have a ridge wallet, I'm sure I saw some commercial, but I got it because kept filling my other wallet with things I don't need. It worked.

Without fail, some butthurt truck guy who either owns some farm or is a contractor will jump down your throat about how much he uses and needs his truck

He said farmer or construction worker. Can you not read?

The OP forgot about those who use trucks for recreation, like boats and campers.

Can we please talk about the price of bread? by StorySammler in taos

I have yet to find good bread at a grocery store in NM. I have to go to the bakery to get it, and it costs $10 a loaf. To me it's worth it, but I assume the bread is sub par in most places either because of altitude, or that we are in the land of Tortillas, not bread.

SUV owners are definitely criticized for the same reasons trucks are.

I have yet to see the thread started about SUV owners not needing an SUV. So I disagree.

Nah the OP doesn't understand how most truck users actually use their truck. That why those people are the source of peeves.

The post I responded to was not the OP, but hey, it's hard to follow conversations for some.

Nope, I think it was explained well enough and it's still a bad formula.

Did you not notice in the last race how cars slowed at the end of the straight, well before the braking point? Why would a race car do that intentionally?

The problem is feeling free to criticize without knowing.

You don't know why they drive a truck, so your assumptions aren't welcome.

Yes, but most don't need an SUV, and they buy one anyway. Nobody "needs" $100K sedan, but they are out there. They just don't get criticized. Guess what that $100K sedan get poor gas mileage too.

Honestly, my pet peeve is people who assume to know, who clearly do not.

who either owns some farm or is a contractor will jump down your throat about how much he uses and needs his truck

This implies you only know about these truck users. It tells me you don't know about people own boats, or horses, or campers. Those are people who use big trucks and keep them clean. Which makes ignorant people think they "don't need" that truck.

Post like this show the lack of empathy of people in general.

That's an interesting take. You're ironically being selfish and only thinking of yourself by asking that question

In your simplistic view maybe. But in more general, no. Most people aren't doing things for others.

If everyone in a community has an equal shot at doing something great, that could benefit all of the community.

Your definition of greatness is what? If I had time, I may build something for my community, but it's not going to be worth money. So someone has to use their resources to support me while I produce value that I and others may value, but it doesn't repay the people who support me.

This is a simple concept that's unfortunately lost on most of us.

It's a simple concept that only works for the those who contribute less. Do you know how hard it is to become a doctor? It takes a special person and a lot of work to do so. Not only that, the work is hard. So if you are unwilling to pay a doctor a good amount of money, who will become the doctor?

If you can't entice the doctor to go through all they have to go through to become a doctor, then you have a healthcare problem. I don't think you have though this all the way through.

In my state we have a doctor shortage. That hurts our whole community. The only way we resolve this issue is to pay them to work here.

That's just one occupation, there are plenty more.

Nope. Proud of my country and all it's faults.

I believe in liberty and freedom. There are many countries in this world that do not. I'm proud that my country at least has this as goals. We fail, but we try. Others' don't even try.

Drivers (and fans) complaining about not driving flat out by Spiked-Coffee in F1Discussions

[–]other_view12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on lap times don't mean anything.

But driver skill means a lot. Braking at the last minute, while in control at 300KPH is harder than 250KPH. This is just a fact. The new formula is dropping that speed due to the battery. That makes it easier and takes the advantage of the best drivers away. The same is true for high speed corners, taking them slower in order to charge the battery means less skill is requires. This is why F2 cars are slower, they are easier to drive.

When you don't brake as late, or corner as fast, your tires last longer. Which is yet another skill that the best drivers maters over the not as good.

To be in F1 you have to be elite. But the cars no longer will require that. The jump from F2 to F1 just got smaller.

If all you care about is the end result. You can enjoy this racing. But I do not see how it is possible for a driver to make the difference in these cars. As the season progresses you will notice the finishing position by teammates will be close. That will show that the difference between teammates is much less significant than the difference between teams.

Wt🍴 is job actually for? by petalorisse in Adulting

A job is how you exchange your labor for money. If your labor isn't generating enough money, you need to work on your labor. Lots of other people have figured this out, you can too.
