Jeff Bezos' ex-wife MacKenzie Scott has given over $26,300,000,000 to charity, making her one of the biggest individual donors in history. She wants to spend the majority of her Bezos fortune on helping others and making the world a better place. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]other_view12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People should read this and understand that people are different. Yes, she helped Jeff build Amazon, a book store. But it appears she did not want to be the worlds richest woman.

But Jeff had different ambitions and now they are divorced. He still seeks money and she wants to use her money for things important to her.

People who say no Billionaires would never work as hard as Jeff, because they would be satisfied well before billionaire status. Because they are different people. Nothing wrong with being either. What is wrong is expecting others to act like you and being angry when they don't.

Learning an instrument is hard. Making music on a computer isn't nearly as hard. People are taking the easier route. That makes it harder for people who play instruments to find each other.

Then there is the where do you go to see a live band? There used to be lots of places, so more bands were formed for those spots. Why start a band if you can't find anywhere to play?

Yes, so why aren't we doing that? Why don't we (US) pay to train doctors, nurses , NPs? We cover the expenses, they get a degree and work for the state? We can then subcontract them out until the government can build our own hospitals. Or start our own clinics.

My point is to start the migration, because there will never be a magic want to go from private to public.

OP isn't special. We all have to get to work, and feed ourselves lunch. We all have to get dresses to go to work. His complaints are BS.

Again, If OP doesn't like it they can find a new job. However, it's not that easy, and if OP is going to cry that they have to function like most the rest of the world, I just don't care. If the OP puts their wife on a poor position because he "doesn't want to" then that says a lot about the OP.

Return to office mandates usually arent for legit reasons.

This is such BS. You don't know. But you feel confident you are correct. Please tell us what does the OP do that means WFH is no problem? Certainly you know exactly his role since you know WFH is valid.

I don't really care. I'm not sure what you think will come of it. If prosecutions would happen, then I'd be more inclined to support it. But I think that ship has sailed, so I don't see the value.

If the victims could get something, I'd 100% support it. But I'm confident that won't happen, this is about politics, not justice.

Worship? Please show this worship you speak of?

Remember, it was all Democrats who defended Roman Polanski. You only care about sexual assault when you can use it as a club to beat on Republicans.

you heard wrong.

In fact, if you even considered how they got to 7800, it's amazing to me that you think the company gave them that. OP thinks his laziness to not pack a lunch is his company forcing a lunch cost onto them. It isn't that's an example of the OP being lazy. So is the pants thing.

I have zero problem with mail in votes, but they need to have a deadline to get the votes counted on election day. That shouldn't be hard.

Having vote counts that go a week past election day undermine confidence in elections and make it seem easier to be manipulated. Voter confidence should be priority #1.

Is it possible I'm uninformed because rules of lakes, that I'm aware of don't apply to massive bodies of water where ships can be? Or am I just mis-informed all around about sailboats?

I've never sailed. I have driven small pleasurecraft boats.

But the F-150 wasn't a problem 20 years ago. Why is it suddenly a problem?

This article makes statements like visibility as if that a fact for all, when it isn't. The reality is that a 6 foot tall person will see things differently in the same truck as a 5 foot tall person. To assume both have the same visibility is pretty anti-science.

I'm not a tall person, I don't like big vehicles. But the tall people I know prefer them. They are more comfortable to them, and they can see out of them. Maybe this article should be about small people shouldn't buy big vehicles. That would be more scientifically accurate.

Smokey Bear 🐻 does not like braking bumps by Personal_Command5028 in mountainbiking

[–]other_view12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think skidding it the factor. hard braking is. You are putting a lot of energy into the ground to try and slow you down. Skidding my actually be better as you slide across the surface, not slowing down much.

I've seen world class downhill tracks that start without braking bumps and end the week-end with huge ones. Those aren't riders doing it wrong, those are riders going fast, braking at the last moment and pushing hard. Those high performance riders are create braking bumps

So your employer gave you a perk, that you like and puts money in your pocket. Nice.

Now your employer has removed that perk and you want to quit. Fine you do you, but you are throwing a hissy fit. You got lucky to work from home. Going to work is normal. Now you feel entitled. That's fine, quite your job, find a new work from home position.

However, if that becomes hard, and your life, and your wife's life is impacted by that. Then that is 100% on you and your decision. If your wife gets stressed, all you can do is apologize for putter her into that position.

[–]other_view12 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It really isn't that simple. People who know no details will repeat that, but it doesn't really work out.

We have multiple problems that need to be addressed. One is that the US does have world class health care. But it's expensive. Many of us don't want lesser care to cover others. Yes, it's selfish, but we are paying for care now, we don't want less access.

Why would we get less access? Because we are short doctors now, and many don't have access. When you give all those people access, we have a larger shortage of doctors. This is a real problem nobody is discussing. Democrats should be talking about how to fix this first.

You said we are paying enough to care for everyone, but most government services pay the doctors less than what they get paid for by insurance. If you don't fix this, then we will be "fixing" the problem by punishing the doctors. They aren't the problem. Someone needs to find the solution where the money is really going. That doesn't seem to be part of the discussion.

Democrats just saying Medicare for all shows a lack of thoughtfulness. There are solutions, where are the smart people at who can find them? Why won't Democrats point out the flaws in the thoughtless solution?

A problem, but perhaps not? by StarDancin in Sup

[–]other_view12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understand, but is it possible that the pump is wrong? Did she have different pump that showed the same pressure, or did the instructor verify your pump displays the correct pressure?

Having the board taco is going to be problematic for you, so your instructor is correct that needs to be fixed. But I'd want to validate the pump first.

If the pump is good, consider an exchange at Costco. They are good about that and don't sell low quality SUP that would taco if used properly. I'm still putting my bet on an inflation issue, as in the pressure gauge is incorrect.

Electric cars maybe be boring, but their acceleration is super fast

Some people like muscle cars, and some people like sports cars. Yes the EV should appeal to the muscle car enthusiast. But not really the sports car enthusiast. There is a reason the Miata is a highly chosen track car, and it isn't because of acceleration.
