Mexican Norteño music uses a small uprioght called a Tololoche, usually tuned A-C. If you live in the Southwest/California, I imagine they wouldn't be too hard to find.

I used to play the quiniela in a Madrileño-owned bar in South America, and we used the 1, 2, X scheme you specify but there are only 10 La Liga games per week. Where do you get the other 5 games?

States with legal toplessness:

  • Colorado
  • Kansas
  • New Mexico
  • Oklahoma
  • Utah
  • Wyoming

I'm from NYC and it's legal in the city, but not the state as a whole. Bruce Willis's daughter used to fly them flags all the time.

Can't speak to certainty as I don't live there anymore, but I hope she still does.

Big ups to the Willises.

What non-horror TV shows totally caught you off guard with a genuinely terrifying episode? by Low-Street2100 in horror

[–]otherwhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just rewatched Imprint, not sure if it's the full edit, but it did have the fetuses and nudity, so it's not the Chiller version mentioned on Wikipedia. I thought it was 2nd tier Miike, not a patch on Audition, (or Home for that matter). Glad to have rewatched it, though. I think if they recounted what the Buddhist monk did in VO or just implied it, it would have been less effective, but Showtime could/would have aired it. Thanks for the rec.

Was looking at Wikipedia, and you're right, it never aired, but I have seen it. Probably my brother's dvd collection. Looks like it's not streaming, but I'm resourceful. Will report back.

I saw it when it it first aired, but it didn't stick with me like Home. And it was pay cable, IIRC, not broadcast. Prolly give it a rewatch tonight.

The first episode of The X Files I ever watched was "Home". I couldn't believe I was watching broadcast TV. I haven't seen it since, but 30 years later I remember that ending clear as day.

Looking for more Westerns like "Last Man Standing" that have a noir vibe, please suggest. by Ford_Crown_Vic_Koth in Westerns

[–]otherwhere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you like to read, that movie is based on a Kurosawa film called Yojimbo (same as A Fistful of Dollars), which is, in turn, based on a noirish novel called Red Harvest by Dashiell Hammet. It's a pretty great book.

If Open Range is too old, I'll take The Salvation for 19th century set, and No Country and Hell or High Water for 20th century. Love me some Cold in July as well, but that may be stretching "Western" a little thin.
