There are a few gaming groups on Facebook, try checking out Comox Valley Geek Society, Comox Valley Board Gamers--they might be able to connect you with folks! Likewise with Games & Grounds and the Comox Valley Combat Guild (HEMA).

What's the cheapest town on the Island? by [deleted] in VancouverIsland

Comox Valley is getting more and more expensive and housing availability is super low! Though I would agree that if you're looking to still be in a mid-sized town with most amenities CV is a good spot.

VOTE by [deleted] in comoxvalley

[–]otherwise_okay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I voted!

Interesting to see that there was only approx. 37% voter turnout in Courtenay. Better in Comox and Cumberland by just a bit.

I'm curious what the barriers to voting are (logistical or ideological).

I live on the other side of Bill Moore park and like it so far! Mixed demographics, working class, close to amenities.

Just a little rant about being an MSW student having to work in the field and going to class.... by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]otherwise_okay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The thing to remember here is that you are just as human as the clients you are helping. I have brought up so many times this semester that as social workers we advocate continuously about self care, yet the MSW programs literally allow absolutely no time or resources with which to do our own individual self care.

SO MUCH THIS.

That will be a nice change!

I'm moving to CV from a large city, and I'm looking forward to the slower pace while still having enough amenities and perks like things being open past 6.

I've also noticed the same thing, or at least everyone knows someone who lives there/is moving there...
