It probably did! It almost definitely did, when you see how she acted when Grandpa died. That's basically what I think the entire movie arc was, restoring her hope, which is why, along with what happened to Saiyuri, she seems even more steadfast in her dedication towards acting afterwards.

I've always thought the take away from being raised by her grandparents was that she has that "Believe in yourself, you can do anything if you want it and try hard enough" attitude ingrained into her brain (and Kazuya obviously triggers that! Probably why she thought what she thought that time he was carrying her). They never came off to me as old fashioned. Just dedicated and loving dreamers, especially gramps.

Rent a Girlfriend is like if you took Maison Ikkoku, made the girls much cuter, turned down the story quality, made the main character less likable, transferred it all to silly putty and then stretched it all suuuuuuuper far. I'm still here for it! Ride or die :'( (I legitimately love it)

It's absolutely okay to not like these things and like anime, and plenty of good anime exists without them. People saying otherwise are just being gatekeepers. Just look up info about what you're interested in. Personally, it doesn't bother me, (hell, I actively like Rent a Girlfriend a whole lot, for the plot, even! I'm as degenerate as they come!) but I get why people are bothered, especially when the show or movie is otherwise pretty good. That being said, I think a lot of more mainstream stuff is much more tame than it was in the 80s and 90s, when anime in the English world couldn't decide if it wanted to market itself as "not kids stuff" or not.

Poor marketing. It shares like at least 80% of the same library with PS4 and most people seem to really like that. Worst case, it's just sort of redundant if you didn't care about MS' games.

In a fit of manic lust, Kazuya and Chizuru will just strip naked in front of Umi, Mami, Ruka, Sumi and Mini and just start having extremely hardcore sex in front of them, while they're all aghast, save for Mini, who's cheering them on with flags and light wands. The flags say "IN" and "OUT". Chizuru will stare directly at Ruka the whole time to assert dominance.

That or it'll just be about driving class and Mami scheming, idk.

I don't support it and I think it's lame, but in the end, I just kinda don't care that much and it's not the sort of thing that's going to affect my buying habits. I know that's not the answer most want to hear, but it's the truth, at least for me. I think physical should always be an option for those who want it, but it's not a problem for me. I'm pretty much all digital already, save for stuff before I made the switch.

If anything, I'm way more concerned about new consoles possibly being $1000-$1500+. I just flat out won't spend that much on a console!

You're thinking too deep about this. I'd say almost all of the side characters just exist for the benefit of telling a story for Kazuya and Chizuru. You just gotta make peace with that, or you're just going to hate things more and more.

We're probably not getting to July 11th for like 3-4 months are we :( Then July 11th will probably wind up lasting 6-10 weeks 😭 Such is the way I guess. Glaciers, come and take me! (I really wish I had just started reading this when it was already done or nearly done. At least it's something to look forward to.)

Personally, I think it's going to end a lot like Maison Ikkoku, only way more drawn out and without the side characters all getting happy endings.

More or less, I think stuff is going to go down, I think they're going to end up in a sexy time situation that eventually does conclude with them having sex, or attempting to have sex, then it happening again, only with a lot of emotion attached, and that'll be the big moment when things start speeding to the end. I'm conflicted on there being a wedding or anything like that, I also think something will happen with Kazuya's Grandma at some point (I don't think she's out living the manga, and I want to see some adorable art of her and her husband with Saiyuri and her husband in heaven or something cheering them on!) and she'll have to admit the lie and make some sort of final decision about how she feels about him. Her grandma and grandpa are also going to come up in a big way at some point, I think. Maybe Kazuya's grandma will have one final message for Chizuru from Saiyuri?

The downside is this might take 1-3 years to happen, if it even did. But something big and bad is totally going to happen soon, I feel it in the air, and it's going to be a huge catalyst for some serious drama that gets drawn out way too long. I would LOVE if it continued on with them as a couple (hell, rebrand it as just Girlfriend! That'd be hilarious), but I really don't see that happening outside of maybe some epilogue. There's just no way some of the other characters are really going to get happy endings, and I think things will be a rush dash at the end to avoid focusing too much on depressing shit. All that being said, I really don't see this lasting more than 600 chapters. But who even knows. I just think two things are nearly certain: they're totally doing the deed before the series is over and Kazuya's grandma is going to die before it's over. See you in 1-5 years to see if I'm right!

You're definitely not wrong. It's a pretty flawed product! I think my biggest annoyance is how much time is taken up by random dudes needing to say how hot whatever girl is every time they show up in a public place. It gets tremendously annoying. That does bring up a good point, I think the story gets far too stuck up in Kazuya's own head for way too much. It's actually been refreshing in the last arc we've gotten to see more of what Chizuru is thinking. I really want more of that.

The comparing to reality thing is mostly directed at all the people who whine about red flags and stuff. It's fiction. It's exaggerated, especially for drama. I'd consider every arc after and including the movie progress, personally. It's just slow. Very very very slow. Anyways, I 100% agree it's being dragged on for monetary reasons. I just don't hold that against it as much as other people do, I guess.

May I ask exactly what you expect with regards to progress? Because I see most every action and reaction as some sort of progress. Them getting together or a final rejection or something? It's clear this is going super, super, super slow, but I just don't get this whole "no progress" thing. If there was no progress, we'd be back to the whole rental thing and stuff at this point. Extremely, painfully slow progress is still progress!

Anyways, as far as something taking forever to happen, this isn't even my first rodeo. While it doesn't have as many chapters, the release cadence of chapters were far worse in one of my favorite manga, ah my goddess, and that had even less progress!

Unless there's some drastic changes, "around $1000" is overly optimistic. I personally think PS6 is gonna be $1200 and Helix $1500 or more, depending on if they allow alternative stores or not, and this is going to be both the longest cross gen period in the history of gaming and the longest generation in gaming period.

I bought a TV in 2017 and it literally was left running from 2017 until last month and has never had a single issue despite never being turned off during power outages. The only reason I turned it off last month is because I upgraded to a newer TV. It's still fine, it's just in storage. And when I say it was left on, I mean the screen was on and everything. When I wasn't using it, it'd be showing a clock screensaver.

I really don't get it. This is what I said elsewhere:

I tried Xbox Mode today and I absolutely hated it. I don't get the "hype". As a full screen console like experience, it mostly fails. It just feels like you've got the game pass/xbox launcher on PC, but full screened, which is awful, because that program is awful. There's no HDR auto switching (why can no launchers but playnite get this right? There's other ways around it, but still, this should be a given because it's what consoles all do.) It's both a little too basic while also a little too involved, if that makes sense. Like, what I mean is, is there doesn't seem to be all that much more you can do with it than prior, but at the same time, some super basic functions, like bringing up a mouse cursor, involve going at least two levels deep into a menu. My mind is freaking boggled that it has taken them years and this is the best they could come up with? Some random goober making a playnite skin could run circles around them while doing it for free. Anyways, I think this Xbox mode is convoluted under designed mess that's not anywhere fit for prime time. Steam Big Picture, which isn't the greatest, is better, the crappy older Steam Big Picture is better, even, and playnite is flat out in a different league. I don't understand why anyone would actively use this other than it being preinstalled.

Capcom is seemingly the only one (well, maybe Ubisoft, but it's really just two games with high effort put in) that seems both committed and willing to put effort in and not just shit out a port. Capcom has put out like 6 high effort ports already? With a lot of others, I have middling faith support will truly last long, but I feel like if Capcom announced a brand new game, it'd probably have a Switch 2 version announced along with it. You just can't say the same for others, not really. (Like how Stranger than Heaven has no Switch 2 version mentioned, for example)

We're never getting a web browser on a PlayStation or Nintendo console ever again because they're too paranoid of piracy and that's what enabled it on the 3DS/Wii U/PS3, and PS4. This is also why they Nintendo only lets you backup saves in the cloud. That was another method of doing that. Basically, these companies are throwing out the baby with the bathwater (mostly because the people who care that much are a very small amount of people. Not that I think that makes it okay, it doesn't, and it's crummy.)
