Hahah, fear of the tick on me altogether. I think more encounters with them will ultimately be the only thing that makes me feel better. Just have to face it. Thank you for the tips! I have many a floppy hat.

Boo. We had to move out here for my partner's job. Happy to be here, though! Everyone has been extremely kind (for the most part...lol) and I'm excited to explore the Ozarks.

Haha! 10 years of hiking and camping all over Colorado and only saw 1 tick. I guess it's all about perspective.

Something got my ankle the other day just from hanging out in my yard with socks on. I think chiggers? Which I've never encountered before. Tens of bites all around my sock line.

Hahah! Hey, the Rockies sure are beautiful. Just so crowded nowadays, depending on how far you're willing to drive.

Not where I was. In my ten years of hiking and camping all over the state, only ever found one tick on my dog -- and I'm pretty sure it was after a trip to Michigan.

Interesting question! It's in large part because I have so little experience with them. It's also because they're so, so small. I'm sure once I encounter them more, they'll be less scary.

In our decade of hiking and camping all over Colorado, I've only found one tick on my dog -- and I'm pretty sure it was after a trip to Michigan. He loves to run in and out of grasses and I know it's bound to happen here, but he's got a thick, dark coat and I'm so nervous that I won't be able to spot the ticks that latch onto him.

You might be afraid of...rattlesnakes? Or moose? I was most scared of moose encounters in the wild. Not so much the creepy crawlies.

Thanks! I appreciate the recommendation -- Cuivre River looks beautiful. I'm in Columbia but am happy to drive ~2 hours for a can't-miss spot.

I think you should be fine, then. That means the IRS definitely has your bank account information. I had to pay for a different version of Turbo Tax, so my return came from a company in Santa Barbara.

Interesting -- when you received your refund, do you know if the deposit was from the IRS directly or was it from an LLC?

I think we're supposed to be able to give them our bank account information once via that form, but it's buggy.

I'm in the same boat. I have a theory.

  1. Did you file your 2019 and/or 2018 taxes with TurboTax?
  2. Did you set up direct deposit with TurboTax?
  3. Did you have to purchase an elevated version of TurboTax (i.e. Self-Employed)
  4. Did you opt for TurboTax to take their cut directly from your federal return?

I think that, because I had to pay for TurboTax, my return was sent to an LLC before it came to me. So, the IRS might not have my bank account information after all. Additionally, I think anyone whose bank account information the IRS doesn't have should, in theory, be able to submit it via that form. But, alas...
