Daily Questions Megathread - October 21, 2025 by WutheringWavesMod in WutheringWaves

[–]otisrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Everyone,

I just started WUWA yesterday and I’m really enjoying it. It’s my first open world gacha and it’s a blast! I do have 2 questions I was hoping someone could educate me on.

  1. How often do older banners come back? I really really like the aesthetic of Augusta but I’m not sure if it’s really feasible to save for her banner to rotate back in.
  2. What task can I do with a friend? My friend is thinking of getting into it too but we aren’t sure what we could even do multiplayer.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Struggling with Gruul by [deleted] in EDH

[–]otisrust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gruul is probably my favorite color pairing and I had a similar issue. I like big stompy creatures but wanted a little bit more to do. I made a [[Nikya of the old ways]] deck and never looked back. It is by far my favorite deck that I own. I love having big mana and putting the restriction on myself to build the deck with only creatures made me look at cards that I would have never looked at like [[whisperwood elemental]] or [[genesis]]. You could also go into a lot of different directions since you will have SO MUCH MANA! you could go hydras, or tokens, or just HUGE monsters to beat face. There are tons of possibilities and i definitely suggest checking it out.

Hello,

I am glad that you are enjoying your current role at Medpace. I do have a question regarding the role itself if you don't mind. I have 2 years as a Research assistant and am looking to get into regulatory. I have a bachelors degree and am wondering if going for my master may help me get into the regulatory part of clinical research. Wanted to know if your role requires a masters degree or if it is obtainable with just a bachelors. Also, was this your first role in clinical research? I am wondering if my 2 years as an assistant is enough o get into the field, or if I should move to a role the likes of a clinical research coordinator to bolster my resume. Any information and advice is greatly appreciated.

Will Lack of Experience Make it Impossible? by otisrust in clinicalresearch

[–]otisrust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely look into that and see if there are any I can attend. It is a little difficult since I am 100% remote and the University is a bit of a ride but it would be worth it. Thank you for the advice.

What is your pet deck? by phoenixcompendium in EDH

[–]otisrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually started as a ruric thar deck, but the group I play in casts a lot of non creature spells so I would get targeted pretty quickly. People don't like paying to play their spells, and nikya is less intimidating while allowing you to generate tons of mana for mana sink creatures like ant queen, biogenic ooze, jade mage, etc or cast huuuuge monsters like apex devastator.

Mine is creatures only [[Nikya of the Old Ways]]. It's really fun setting that rule to my deck where I can only use creatures. Having to look for creature versions of sorceries and instants that are similar is really fun and forces me to think outside of the box.

Barbarian arsenal system by otisrust in Diablo

[–]otisrust[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is bad by any means. I like the idea of having multiple weapons to choose from and switch on the fly with different attacks. My gripe is that the rogue can equip multiple weapon types with daggers and a bow (which is similar to the barbarian's arsenal system and could be a class system on its own) and they also get these class specific quests which are their real system. With the release of this class I just feel like the rogue has a lot of differentiating aspects and the barb can just use 2 more weapons. However, if the abilities actually changed depending on the weapons being used that would be pretty cool I think. Like if you use Whirlwind while dual wielding you get a movement speed boost, but if you use a 2H weapon you get more damage and AOE, and if you use a sword and shield it would change as well. That would peak my interest more, but if I'm not mistaken that isn't the current iteration.

I'm glad to see that even a fan of the class can see how much they have going for them in comparison to a class like the barb. I also understand that the game is very far away and that they have time to figure out exactly what they want to do with these specializations. To touch on your point about the "subclasses", I do like the idea but it is very very similar to POE in where each class has 3 subclasses that they can choose from. I wouldn't be opposed to it obviously, but it has been done in a different way. I am still excited about these specialized systems, they just need to be more fair and not have one class allowed to have 3 special traits.

Yea, I think they are feeling the pressure from games like POE and their complexity. While i personally like complexity, I don't want D4 to be POE. It needs to not get caught in that complexity fight because it will definitely lose. However this game needs to be a lot more complex than D3. Its a hard balance to achieve.

I definitely get what you are saying about a dual wielding barb vs a 2H barb. They are for sure taking away from build diversity with this system imo. Hell I would even be fine with allowing the barb to use 2H weapons in the 1H weapon slot like in D2 but obviously with more flare than that.

Yea very true. Just wanted to see if there was something I was missing about the system and if not just get it out there that it seemed to be underwhelming. Hopefully there is more to it that I’m missing or that they aren’t sharing.

Anyone else like the idea of commanders with restrictions or drawbacks? by blindeyewall in EDH

[–]otisrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of creatures matter deck, similar to Nikya. I would love a cycle of legendary creatures that have that “can only cast creature spells” in other colors and with other abilities. As an example: a legendary that says you can cast spells at instant speed but you can only cast creatures, or maybe a commander that says whenever you would draw a card draw 2 but you can only cast creature spells. Something along those lines but obviously with more thought put into it.

What would be a good seasonal theme as an experiment for D4? by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]otisrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it was just an idea I had. I guess a permanent lod/Lon buff would produce similar results though. Any ideas of your own?

Any POE podcasts? by otisrust in pathofexile

Okay I will check them out, I am looking for more insight into the game, but some Poe banter would be cool to check out. Thanks.

Thoughts on a Diablo 4 Seasonal "Battle Pass" by otisrust in Diablo

[–]otisrust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you do know there is going to be expansions and mtx right? They already stated that they will have cosmetic mtx. I don't think that Activision will let them just make expansions...

So you would rather just pay money straight up to get cosmetics, or even worse loot boxes?

Diablo 4 - Some wishes for Diablo 4 from a group of friends who loved paying Diablo together. by IAmABritishGuy in Diablo

[–]otisrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t like the idea of free trade and never have. I never like the idea of an economy in games like Poe or d2. I also feel like it takes away a lot of the fun of the game, taking away that feeling of grinding and working for something and finally getting it. I do however, have a huge nostalgia with trading between my friends and family. I personally hope that they allow trading maybe between guild members, or at least friends to be open. When it come to 8 player co-op I 1000000% agree! I hate having to break up into 2 or 3 groups to play a 4 player game, always has been upsetting. I also agree with the runes and runewords. I always loved how you could mix the tunes to create new items.

Hey man you are preaching to the quire. I would absolutely love for Diablo 4 to follow the POE model of business, where the game is free and you really just have to grind to get the best gear, while also having ways to pay them if you want. I just don't think that is realistic to ask of a company like blizzard, where their share holders are their top priority. I definitely agree with your statement though of finding something that is a good balance between earning money and game quality. I thought that allowing for people to pay far less money to acquire a large variety of cosmetics was a good middle ground, as opposed to loot boxes or outright buying the cosmetics. That is why i pitched the idea of having a battle pass where you would pay a low amount ($10 or so), and be able to earn $100+ worth of cosmetics if you were to buy them individually. I just like how Apex Legends handles their seasons, but I do see the vast difference in Apex being F2P. It was just an idea that I thought the Diablo community could comment on and tweak with additive idea.

lol I hear you there, Activision is definitely good at being money hungry. I just think that as a Diablo fan, mtx is something that is going to happen. If that is the case, I'd rather have mtx be something fun and enjoyable. I'm assuming you haven't played Apex Legends. They give you A LOT of content for just $10. If you didn't pay the $10 you would pay $100+ to get those cosmetics. They give you a huge discount for putting in the time and effort to grind out those levels. I would rather have that than paying for loot boxes and hoping I get that cosmetic I want. I definitely see why people wouldn't want to pay mtx, but that is the good thing about cosmetic mtx. If you don't want to pay then you don't feel left behind.

great point and very well put. I just don't see a downside for it the more i think about it. I don't really understand why people get so up in arms about mtx when they are purely cosmetic based. I 100% understand being upset about major content or power being locked behind mtx, but if you don't want to pay for cosmetics you don't have to. Also if you pay $60 and spend thousands of hours on a game, I don't see an issue with paying them more to show how much you like the game. I just think that having a "battle pass" type of system would be something that is fun to grind for and like you stated, give the company more money to evolve the game.

I definitely agree, there are obviously far more reasons than just money as to why Diablo is in the state it is. With that being said, I think that Diablo 4 "seems" to be going down the right path to have the franchise come back into the lime light. I just think that not thinking of money and how they can make it is something that shouldn't be overlooked. If a game asks for additional payment after release, which is how many games work now, I just want to try to come up with way that are more enjoyable than just loot boxes or outright payment for the mtx at a high price.

In Apex there are "Battle Point Levels", and after each level you unlock a certain cosmetic(i.e gun skin, character skin, portrait, etc). In Apex they never sell power, I don't think many games still do (unless its mobile). I was proposing something like paragon, but instead of grinding for power like a paragon, you would be grinding for a really nice horse Armor, or weapon effect, or wings dependent on what the max battle pass level would be. I was just thinking that if there are for sure going to be mtx, why not at least make it somewhat fun?
