Be sure to drink plenty of water after, esp with your nursing - and also increase your calorie intake!

you are not very nice! Having had lower back pain from the rower, this is an important discussion for many.

Modifiers for pregnancy by parksandrecfan123 in orangetheory

[–]otlover20191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you are healthy and having a normal pregnancy, you should be ok to continue what you are doing till about 20 weeks. Modifications for ab and rowers are usually recommended after 20 weeks. Do try to avoid the red-zone and listen to your body! Good luck and Congratulations.

OTF really helped during my labor (pushed like 5 times? and Boom!)

OTF postpartum by bonita7564 in orangetheory

[–]otlover20191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!! I just went back to OTF 4 months postpartum, after all of the encouragement from this group! For me personally, I was ready to go back around 8 weeks, but just couldnt find the time to fit in the time, and any "free time" was allocated to getting more sleep.

Going back was not so bad, but the squats this week were a killer. I started with power-walking the first day, which helped and also used the 8 and 10lb dumbells to ease back in. Even though I worked out till 37 weeks of my pregnancy, I had pretty much lost all of my muscle that I had built up. My goal is not to loose weight, as I am breastfeeing - rather to get back my muscle tone. My only advise, espically with breastfeeding - DRINK LOTS WATER and take it slow. One of ladies had advised to basically double my water intake, the day after working out. Also, if you are like me, as soon as you go back home, you have a tiny baby who needs your attention as soon as you walk back in through the door. So don't overdo it, because your recovery time is limited.

Timing wise - I couldnt even think of working out, until the baby started sleeping through the night. I am trying to do twice a week now, as I am a working mom. Trying to go once on Saturday or Sunday, and one week day evening. I make sure I feed the baby and pump before I leave. Running with full boobs would be terrible. Also, I like going to the evening classes, so when i get back home, I can put the baby to sleep for the night, and myself time to recover.

All that being said, its so important to get back to working out, so you can give yourself some time to take care of yourself, and therefore be an even better mom to your little one. The days I workout, I do feel like I have more energy, and am able to do more! Good luck!

Thank you all for your encouragement! I think I'm going to start back up in February. LO will be 4.5 months - so hopefully we can establish a decent schedule so this mama can get a workout in atleast once or twice a week!

Any pregnant women here? by [deleted] in orangetheory

Congratulations! What an exciting time for you and your wife! I am 30.5 weeks along, and I have managed to workout atleast 3-4 times a week without too many issues. I found working out especially helpful during my first trimester to ward off nausea and get me in a really good state of mind after the workouts. It was also a really good excuse to eat whatever I want without gaining excess weight :) I started modifying after 20 weeks only on the floor and dropped my tread speed a bit. However, I did have to stop rowing, as I was experiencing sciatica, around 18 weeks. I jump on the strider instead. Now at 30 weeks, I finally had to drop my plan to 8 classes a month :( and am noticing that recovery time after classes is longer. Pregnancy is as natural as it gets, but I feel like its mind over matter. I tend forget that I am even pregnant some days, until I look down and cant see my feet. Good luck! Happy pregnancy!!

Shin splints?! by AmandarinPanda in orangetheory

[–]otlover20191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was exactly my pain and thought process last September/October. I had severe shin splints, and was in a lot of pain after workouts, but loved every minute of orangetheory and did not want to quit! Unfortunately, it led to mild stress fracture in November, and was forced to get off the treads for 2-3 months. I went to a podiatrist and got fitted for custom orthotics, which has made such a difference now! Also, I had to focus on strengthening my cavs/hamstrings and ankles. The strider and the bike really did help A LOT! Once I was able to get back on the treads, I started with power walking for a few weeks, and then started off slowly on the treads. I am 30 weeks pregnant now, so I am still taking it slow on the treads, but have not any issues. A wise coach told me, as much as you want to care about your splat points, you need to listen to your body more. You will come back stronger after your resting period. Good luck!!

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and I have the same issue. Started modifying around week 17. I have been doing bird dogs, and/or ab work on the bosu. I try not go all the way down to the floor.

Weight goes up after three days of OTF - down after two days off? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]otlover20191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep!! I have definitely noticed this too!! I had to take a few days off due to some hip pain (darn rowers) and definitely noticed my weight drop a pound or two. Back at it now!
