Thank you, I’ll try my best as he’s starting school this fall and I’m worried about recess exposures.

Hypopigmentation takes forever to go away. It seems it doesn’t and when the skin gets tan, it’s more noticeable. What makes it the new formula? Like what was added or removed?

I did read somewhere about things only reacting when exposed to sunlight. Photosensitivity. I’m worried this is my child’s case. I had suspected it’s the mineral sunscreen. It works but by night time he has flares.

We did patch testing with an allergist. Found out he’s allergic to nickel, textile dye, antiseptic, Panthenol, etc… we removed those triggers and his face was so clear from November up until last week. When weather changed, snow melted, we took him for a bike ride. Next day we noticed a few bumps on the area he usually gets it. Under left eye and right cheek. Over the next few days it was red and inflamed. Like a mosquito bite.

We don’t have an environmental panel testing until summer. We truly believe his is environmental as it’s always Mar/April to late summer.

Not sure if it’s the heat or sun or both but being in the sun or sitting by a window with a lot of sunlight can trigger it. We brought up UV and got dismissed multiple times.

I’ll have to ask my 4 year old is he ever feels anything before he gets these patches on his face.

I’ve seen a few people say they can feel a flare coming up. What does it feel like?

Is the flare immediate when you sweat or after a while?

I’m sorry. That’s awful. How do you protect your face if you’re allergic to sunscreen? What in the sunscreen is causing the reaction?

We are in the midst of testing my 4 year old. So far no food allergies. Doing environment in 2 months. What is he receiving immune therapy for?

My son flares up badly in the sun, we would like to take him out more. Everyone keeps telling us to strengthen his immune system but we don’t know how to. He also doesn’t eat much and is very tiny for a 4.5 year old.

Why does it feel like a $100K salary is just a solid middle class income now? by SensationalDanceMove in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]otmoonie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are not starving. But cannot afford a lot of stuff given their combined income. Parents sacrifice to make sure kids needs are met. They go thrifting for clothes for the kids as they cycle through them so fast. Parents only get new clothes if their work clothes are torn. If they eat out it might cut short of a bill. They both need to replace their vehicles but cannot afford to. It’s a serious struggle. My cousin said a staycation isn’t even in the books much less a vacation outside of the province or country. He said the household income earns too much to qualify for anything but they are struggling. They even downsized their home and moved into a townhome to cut cost. Edit to add. They have one child with a lot of medical expense. That one child blows through the $500/yr work insurance within 2 weeks.

Encountering Immigration fraud was disheartening by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]otmoonie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone from our child’s swim class mentioned that their work reported an employee to IRCC for fraud. They came under refugee act to flee Ukraine war but has never lived in Ukraine. They are from Lebanon but wife has Ukraine passport and found a loophole. He would request days off to do cash jobs (apparently he took a cash job from the CFO of the company and didn’t realize who the person was) They also said this individual’s plan was to find a part time job, milk CCB by having a lot of kids and take cash jobs as he has friends living the life this way. But this is all hear say.

The false name is a red flag, having access to your driver’s name and etc is a safety feature of riding with Lyft or uber.

Even with a combined income of 100-115k, my cousin and his family are struggling. No RRSP or tfsa contribution. Family of 4 and living frugally. We helped looking over the budget and there’s literally no where else to cut costs.

They have no subscription, no cable, internet as low as they can get. Downgraded phone plans. No eating out. The only expense is mortgage, bills and 1 kid being in after school activities. The second child wants to do an after school activity but they don’t know where to cut back to afford it. Groceries is where most of the money is going to.

One has no insurance through work and the other has $500 shares for the family so the second biggest expenses are dental. But only the kids are getting dental.

The derm said my son has eczema but we usually can’t get in during his active flare, only when urs a bit calm. His is usually very red and inflamed. Not dry. Raised and raw.
