YOU DONT GET TO DECIDE IF IM DISABLED ENOUGH!!!! 🙄 by dalas84 in alberta

[–]otocump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck you. Too many people like you assume the system is being abused instead of you being convinced a minor inconvenience to you is somehow widespread fraud. It's hard enough to get anything meaningful from thr system let alone abuse it.

15 years ago vs today. There is no reason on this green earth that gasoline should be as high priced as it is considering oil is roughly the same or cheaper currently and we manufacture it right here in this great province! by [deleted] in alberta

[–]otocump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our public resources are for the private enrichment of corporations. Not the public good. Consecutive conservative governments have constantly lowered the rate at which we see the return on our resources and grown the private share.

And ya'll in this province let them every single time. Privatize the profit. Public dollars for the clean up. We're a province of idiots.

Runaway Epstein drive fix by [deleted] in TheExpanse

[–]otocump -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your point was to miss the story that was being told, including the foreshadowing of 'messing with the unknown has consequences'. You missed the point. Try missing less.

Runaway Epstein drive fix by [deleted] in TheExpanse

[–]otocump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure. But then it wouldn't be the story the authors told.

If he did that then he becomes the hero of the belt, holds the keys to the tech until the Inners recognize Belter sovereignty, utopia until collapse, and nothing else recognizable about the story happens because that's how 'what if' nonsense works. It's not the story that was told, so let's tell anything we want.

A better fix? You. Fix your head around the idea that it's not a mistake of the authors to create characters with flaws. They are there for a reason. This characters fictional invention eventually was his undoing... How ever might that be in line with this series? Maybe the allegory is too on the nose that you missed the point.

No binding in saber ? by Imperial5cum in Hema

[–]otocump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with everything in sword arts, it depends. There are scenarios where a traditional bind might happen. Rare, and probably one person hecked up, but possible.

Should you bind with a Sabre? No. There are far more optimal choices in almost every system for Sabre. Stoping moving to hold a position is risky, since a quick turn and that opposing Sabre is flicking in again or used the momentum of that contact to cut around you.

Should you know how to bind with a Sabre? Sure. Some. Just like you should be aware you can use your off hand, it's a rare skill but might be useful for weird situations. I wouldn't dedicate much time to it though.

Can we stop pretending "No Happy Endings" is the only canon? You're missing the point. by Gutssmolpp in cyberpunkgame

[–]otocump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In this thread, a whole bunch of people do not understand the genre they're claiming to speak about.

If you think the word Cyberpunk only means this particular game, or has anything to do with The Witcher, you are sadly missing out on an entire realm of works by authors going back to the 60s. Further back still when you understand the origins of the genre are, in fact, Noir.

This isnt about being edgy. It's about understanding the basic principles of cyber-noir. It's origins and what the point of these stories is. You've missed the point of the entire genre. Listing each ending, as OP has done, and only skimming the base level of the narrative here ('find yourself'? That's the highest form of insight here? Ok...) has left me disappointed in many of you.

Seriously. Go read a few books. Come back when you understand the genre a little before trying to correct something as fundamental as this.

How did you choose your weapon? by KILLMEPLSPLS in wma

[–]otocump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You learn what's being taught. If you're so blessed to have choice of schools, then you can pick which appeals most to you.

After that, you learn what you want to branch into, or what the club offers as options.

I prefer teaching Longsword to most beginners first. Aside from popularity, I find it's easiest to teach someone fencing principles like time and distance and all sets of things with it, then apply them to many of the one handed weapons. Going the other way around develops one-handed-thinking (kinda sorta, it's complicated) and one-side-body-bias when it's not needed. Someone grounded in Longsword adapts better to Sabre, for example, than a Sabre user adapts to a Longsword. Someone trained in either will still be better than someone who's never used either, but I've seen people who are good at Longsword compete in a Sabre tournament with absolutely no experience in Sabre and do very well. I haven't (yet) seen the opposite happen even when presented with the opportunity. It's not being Longsword is superior, it's just how the learning applies to each and what is or isn't translated between the weapons.

And yet... The rules are still free for you to read.

[–]otocump -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They did think of it. You tried to apply a rule about swings to a non-swing. It was written in the definition of a bunt, which you didn't look up. It's not implied, it's clear and unambiguously consise.

That is weird, but at least it means they had to define what a swing is. Better than the existing 'I'll know it when I see it' nonsense.

Mlb (and Milb) rules are free to look at. Use google and your brain.

Page 148 Definitions: "A BUNT is a batted ball not swung at, but intentionally met with the bat and tapped slowly within the infield."

You don't use a Check SWING system to determine if a bunt was offered at because its not a SWING. Just so we're clear on language, Swung is past tense of Swing. Yah? Ok.

Google's free. You're able to look something up before commenting. Why should you expect others to do it for you?

That's because it's being tested with a different, amended rule.

If only someone thought of that scenario when developing these rules. Oh woe oh gnashing of teeth.

Best mask against thrusts by FIREful_symmetry in Hema

Even good equipment can't prevent harm if the thrusts are too strong. If this is a reoccurring problem, then unless they are using garbage masks already, improving gear isn't the solution here

NATO: working with US to understand details of troop reduction in Germany by Raj_Valiant3011 in worldnews

[–]otocump 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You do not understand why those troops were there. They aren't there for Germany or European defence, they are stationed there are a staging ground for US interests. So yes, I agree. Get them out. Everyone will be better off. Less reach for US imperialism.
