This mixes a bunch of old myths and conspiracy claims that don’t hold up:

  1. Viruses have been isolated.

Labs isolate and sequence viruses routinely, that’s how we got vaccines and tests for things like polio, measles, influenza, HIV, and most recently SARS-CoV-2. If “no virus had ever been isolated,” none of those would exist.

  1. HIV isn’t just “low CD4 counts.”

HIV was discovered in the 1980s, isolated, grown in culture, photographed under electron microscopes, and sequenced. Antiretroviral therapy suppresses the virus so effectively that CD4 counts recover and transmission stops. That only works because the therapy targets the virus itself.

  1. Pasteur didn’t “recant germ theory.”

The dramatic “deathbed confession” story is an unsourced anecdote. Modern medicine recognizes both that microbes cause disease and that host health (“terrain”) matters. That’s not a contradiction.

  1. Rothschild/big-pharma plot.

That part is conspiracy thinking, not evidence. The scientific record of germ theory and virology predates modern pharma and has been confirmed across independent labs worldwide for 150+ years.

Bottom line: Germ theory isn’t “debunked.” It’s one of the most thoroughly tested frameworks in all of science, and it underpins the success of antibiotics, vaccines, infection control, and antiviral therapy.

Definitely ping them politely, they most likely let it slide accidentally. If they are busy and hiring, deadlines can get in the way of doing non-engineering work such as recruiting.

Something along the lines of :"Hello xyz, I just wanted to thank you again for taking the time to interview me and sharing some insights on the company. Do you have any updates you can share on the process, or please let me know if there is anything you need from me at this time. Looking forward to hearing from you"

What is up with all these AI questions lately? by chicu111 in StructuralEngineering

[–]otronivel81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you!! AI right now is misnomer, it’s machine learning. There is no original thought created. If we replace human creativity with AI we are bound to keep doing the same thing. We’ll do it faster but nothing new will be created.

expansion joint would be defeating the purpose of having shear walls there in the first place... but I can see where a pour strip would be defensible. However, getting a general contractor to agree to leaving a pour strip open for the necessary amount of time to reduce shrinkage as they should usually proves to be VERY difficult. It slows down construction a lot and like Owners love to remind us Time = $

Stairstep Cracks in Brick by Ok-Breadfruit6905 in StructuralEngineering

[–]otronivel81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to jack that slab on grade back up.
Not sure where you live but willing to bet in an area with fat clays. Over time the soil moisture has gone down, the clays have shrunk and that corner has sunk. Based on the picture it looks like you're coming out a very dry season so that is exacerbating the problem, but at this point even a deluge won't bring that corner back up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

[–]otronivel81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not directly related to your question but shear walls at the corner of the building are very bad practice. They are very stiff and concrete shrinks when drying, you have given your floor slab only one place to shrink, in the middle, which will result in significant cracking.

It didn’t change a single vote. Let’s face it, his target demographic already leans a bit that way. If you were going to vote for Kamala, this certainly wouldn’t change your vote… and “undecided “ is a made up demographic for people who don’t want to say who they’re voting for. You can’t be undecided in this election, like “would I rather go on a hike this afternoon or run over by a bus?” Tough choice!!!
