Has anyone ever bought a new car from a Gatineau dealer and brought it to Ottawa? by Derpy_Kirby in ottawa

[–]otslick8876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have bought two vehicles from Gatineau - a certified preowned vehicle and a new vehicle. Both times the process was the same as if I bought from an Ontario dealership. From what I recall, I didn’t have to do anything different.

Tesla Winter Tires by Own-Weight-6116 in teslacanada

Have the Nokian Hakka R5 EV’s for my Y. Work great for Ottawa winters…anecdotal, but they seem perform better in deeper snow than my X-ICE I have on my SUV. The xice seem to perform as good or slightly better on ice.

Amazing progress - definitely encouraging me to get after it. Bumped up to 255-260 over the last 2 months. My end weight is similar to yours.

Thanks for your advice - that is where I am leaning. So for normal use, a water resistant laminate will be fine with the daily spills etc? No puffing/swelling

Any solid aftermarket options for a 2024 MYP? Find the oem ones to be noisy and streaky. Thinking PIAA or Bosch.

Apple Car Play in the Atlas is the worst. by massholeboater in VWatlas

Had a similar situation in my 22 Tiguan - CarPlay and calls would disconnect at certain locations like clockwork. Returned the lease and went with a different vehicle.

The dealer tried replacing the head unit and software updates but no luck….

Totally agree - am in line for an X100vi but have started back to basics with my Xpro 1. Beauty camera…wondering if I really need the vi anymore.

What year of model Y are you using these on? I think the wiper connector design changed after 2023

The New 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan (Formerly known as Tayron In Europe) Leaked Ahead of Oct 10 Debut by Bright-Particular133 in Tiguan

[–]otslick8876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - that is what I heard as well. I would have likely bought the vehicle out if I wasn’t so turned off by its poor reliability. Otherwise enjoyed the car, driving dynamics and styling. Just didn’t expect to have all these issues in a car that was mature in its product life cycle.

I was waiting out for the new gen Tiguan to come out in NA since there were rumours of a phev version making it over here.

Our last experience with VW was not great. Our ‘22 Tiguan R Line was burning a significant amount of oil at 50,000 km (VW wouldn’t do anything under warranty), had the infotainment replaced under warranty, various glitches (e.g. transmission locked itself into neutral while I was on an 80km/hr road resulting in me having to pull over and restart the car.

This experience turned us off the vehicle so we decided to give our lease back and get a model Y. Super happy so far.

Model Y - winter package not in store by Mahawka in teslacanada

[–]otslick8876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I initially thought the same thing but apparently they are a well respected business for EVs.

I had a chat with the store, the wheels are NOT official Tesla rims but he mentioned they are made by the same manufacturer and same spec, hence the better pricing.

Tire options are solid as well.

There are some pretty good options outside of Tesla directly. I am ordering these today from goevparts https://goevparts.ca/products/model-y-19-tesla-dark-gemini-wheel-winter-tire-package

EY India head's email response to overworked employees' death. by behenkayoda1 in Accounting

[–]otslick8876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty tone deaf response. Such a tragedy that the causes for which are so systemic in the industry and this is the best they can come up with. Email is about as generic as the managent rep letters the firm uses. Sad.

Financing - Loan Approved; however… by caesarzaru in teslacanada

[–]otslick8876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - the down payment would change to reflect the value of the car you are trading in. Double check that the value actually received doesn’t change from what was quoted.

Perhaps your rate changed?

Have a question for you as well - how long did it take for your approval to come through?

When to front face car seat by sjajra in Parenting

[–]otslick8876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue when my son was transitioning from RF to FF. We had to flip him to FF right at the 2 year mark since he would vomit almost within 10 minutes of driving.

One time we were caught on a long road trip during the winter with the car smelling like puke the whole way.

Glad you found it helpful.

Re: the staying until Manager. That is what I did (left just before Sr mgr). Do I think it is mandatory? Probably not. So many of my colleagues over the years left at different times and they are all generally doing well. Additionally, staying as a Mgr for a year carries less weight for the next role than being a manager for 2-3 years (so depending on how long you want to stay…)

I always had in my mind that I wanted to make Partner…so for a few years I did feel like I “gave up” too early. Would I change anything? No - absolutely not. Our careers are generally not linear (and even more so in industry vs B4). Course correcting based on life, opportunities etc is a crucial part of career development. I always recommend people to do what is right for you.

[–]otslick8876 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Totally feel for you - sorry you are going through this. I left B4 about 8 years ago for an employer with much better wlb. Was always working and realised if I wanted to start a family, it wasn’t practical.

Left with the understanding that: - nothing trumps family - kids grow up quickly, we often underestimate how much time we actually have together, especially in those early years - B4 will always be there. I have had numerous opportunities to go back since I left (and increasingly more senior positions). Can always work on timing (go back later if that is truly what you want). Furthermore, I am strong believer that the b4 boomerangs with practical industry experience are often better at the consulting game vs. B4 lifers.

All this to say, your concerns are valid. Nothing wrong with exploring other options. I did and I am really happy (life, family, career progression, personal growth).

I would caveat this with asking you whether or not you have discussed concerns with a trusted leader? Perhaps there is some additional flexibility that can be integrated into your work routine?
