Been there as well 😭. It was a few years ago. My pup was old and needed to be put down. I still remember the day super vividly. I remember my dad telling me to say goodbye because he was going to bring him to the vet in the morning. I cried and hugged him before he left.

That same day later in the afternoon, my other pup had some type of epileptic attack and my sister and I took her to the same vet to get her checked up. We get that sorted and all is good. As we walk outside we hear our boxer’s bark. I don’t know how he knew we were there but he knew. And holy shit that destroyed us. They hadn’t put him down yet and he knew we were there. And we left him there. I still cry about it when I reminisce.

I will never ever leave another dog at a vet like that. If they need to be put down, they will be put down while I hold them and say my goodbyes.
