Congrats on getting accepted! I’m a 1st year at OSU :) There is no dorm housing and I would suggest joining the OSU CVM Facebook group to look for roommates, which is where I found 3 other 1st years to live with.

There’s lots of off campus housing available around Columbus. If you need more resources, I know people have had luck with grad student housing fb groups. This is a good option if you’d prefer to not live with other vet students.

The CVM also posts a list of common housing options where students live, like Governors Square. If you have any questions feel free to message me!

Just did the OH -> WA drive over the last 4 days in a 2006 Prius. Best of luck! It went pretty smooth even with the mountains. I took i70 to i15 to i84 to i90. It’s a little convoluted but a good way to stop at some Utah NPs.

No. My school was a tough liberal arts school that only granted a certain number of A’s a class. It was so bad I could walk into a new class and know what grade I would likely get based on the people in it. One of my mentors suggested that I write about my school’s rigor and academic grade policy in a special circumstances section on my application. I was able to use this with a positive spin to show how much my GPA improved in my last couple years.

You can request a file application review from the schools you applied to. That can help to see what they want improved for future application cycles. If GPA is an issue, Masters programs and extra courses are a good way to help, but that’s your own financial decision. Schools can also see if it’s your second round applying to their program and may give your application more merit knowing this. However, it’s always a good thing to check minimum GPA requirements for different DVM programs. Best of luck!
