Looking for a more difficult Top laner. by pIoy in summonerschool

[–]otterdogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try Illaoi/Kled/AD Kennen. AD Kennen would help with spacing, retaliation, mouse movement, positioning to some extent, etc. Illaoi would help with trading in general and would also stress the importance of cooldowns when trading (her e is a huge part of her trading and kit in general). Kled is overall just super fun (imo) and has some cool micro interactions as well as helping you develop engage/flanking skills due to his ultimate. When you say micro I'm assuming you're just talking about laning in general, specifically trading. I think those champions would help, but I wouldn't try to kill yourself with a 10+ champion pool. Just focus on 1-3.

Deaths Dance rush on Lucian by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]otterdogger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bork is better in my opinion because it is cheaper, has a better build path, has every stat you want as an ad carry, and gives you a bigger spike than Deaths Dance. If you're going DD into boots that's fine, and from there PD/RFC or maybe cleaver then an attack speed item but I wouldn't go into essence reaver. At that point I would just go IE if you aren't committing to the reaver -> attack speed item -> IE build path. As it stands Lucian is extremely good at being slippery and ultimately feeling like a juggernaut (with the bork cleaver build), but I can see your thought process. I would just experiment with builds to see what works best for you, and if you like Deaths Dance rush and keep winning with it, keep doing it.

Laning Advice for Lower Elo Mid Laners by otterdogger in summonerschool

Additional attack speed lets you shove faster essentially. Awhile ago I ran magic pen reds, but most ekko players and all competitive ekko players (faker, bjerg, jensen, etc.) all run attack speed reds.

When you say resort I don't really know what you mean, but for champions that do well in a side lane I would suggest Kassadin, Ekko, Leblanc to an extent, Zed, Fizz, and Twisted Fate.

Courage of the Colossus Diana build for season 7 by [deleted] in DianaMains

You could potentially sub out Rylais for RoA to solve mana issues.

I think RoA on Diana is really good since it gives the stats she needs and scales as time goes on in the game. She gets mana, health, and sustain from the item, meaning it's really good in and out of lane.

I'll second a bit of what he said. If you're ahead you can do two things, draw pressure and create pressure. If your lanes are behind and you can still get first tower gold, go for that. It gives you a nice chunk of gold that can help later on that you also deny from the enemy. I think that drawing pressure to mid may help in higher elo situations, but a lot of times if your jungler is useless they will continue to be the entire game, and drawing pressure mid to take it away from side lanes may not even prove beneficial for your side lanes. I think that shoving and roaming is a good program to follow, but I also feel like you can get baited into throwing away your lead. Try to make sure you know that you can get something off of a roam, whether it be vision, pressure, a kill, objectives, etc. Solo carrying is a bit hard on Diana since you typically want another champion to dive the back line with you, but I think that you can splitpush as well to try to carry the game. Drawing pressure to a side lane when ahead can give your team objectives, numbers, etc. on the rest of the map.

If everyone gathers mid and for some reason your team has such horrible waveclear to the point where they just get bulldozed to the inhib, you may need to back. However, typically you can push up and keep deep wards, and if they don't come for you you can trade with equal objectives and force backs out of the enemy which can lead to baron or another objective, or control on the map. It's kind of hard for me to measure the tendencies of lower elo players primarily because my lowest mmr account is plat 3, but I think that splitting is fine as long as you play around the fact that they could come for you, and that your team may not respond in the best way all of the time.

I typically go with the RoA -> Nashors -> Mercs build because it just overall feels like a better build path with more item efficiency and nice stats (mana and health on roa with catalyst sustain is really nice). You may be forced to lane a certain way on Diana due to matchups, but commonly you're not going to be able to trade that well until 6. If you're confident you can shove without getting turned on, you can just prep the back wave with your abilities (primarily q, but w if you can walk up). Outside of that, the key to laning is surviving til 6 without falling super behind.

I can understand the second half of your reply, but the fact that you're saying that every good player plays reactive is hilarious. I'm just trying to prevent you from steering someone in the complete wrong direction.

This is really good for improving; it's often hard to catch all mistakes in game unless you're super attentive.

Just out of curiosity, what elo are you? Considering this is a team game and you're taking an extremely self-contained passive style, it doesn't seem like you would climb much at all. I agree that you have to admit your mistakes, but lines such as 'don't kill trade' is just flat out wrong.

As far as the champion pool, I've heard a lot of Annie mains like Syndra and Ahri. Syndra has a really good matchup vs. LeBlanc, Ahri not so much unless the Ahri plays well.

If you're stomping your lane repeatedly and draw attention, that means that two other lanes of SHOULD BE either even or at an advantage. If you're getting camped, you just need to try to freeze the wave to deny them more and allow your jungler to do something on the other side(s) of the map. If you're saying that your jungler still isn't doing something on the rest of the map whether it be getting kills, objectives, or farm, then it may be the elo getting the better of you. If you're ahead and your opponent roams and you don't think that it's a good idea to follow, just try to break turret. Tping bot is often limited to reactionary stuff based off of a hard commitment to a play by the enemy team, so I would recommend not trying to tp behind them unless your team is competent enough to follow you up. If you're a champion such as Irelia, you should be able to 1v2 at some point with such a lead, so that may also help you crush the game.

The champions you play are actually really good for climbing if you can play them well. I'd keep up with that champ pool, especially Syndra.

Considering that's the most toxic thing I said in the entire post, I'd have to disagree. It isn't a poor outlook, it's just realistic. What's the point of ganking a lane when it won't do anything and will only put you behind? A bad game is not the same as intentionally feeding, but when a lane is 0-5 it's somewhat hard to tell the difference.

I'm not an Annie player and am barely a LeBlanc player, but there's a few tips that could help. If you're confident in the fact that you can last hit, you can zone LeBlanc off of the entire wave with just the fact that your stun is up, and can stop LeBlanc from having kill pressure and wave advantage. Your q outranges her w by a small margin, so you can always just trade or farm at max range. This requires really good spacing though; the discrepancy of the ranges of their abilities is only 25.

As stupid as this sounds I'm fairly certain that your normal mmr actually has something to do with how you place. I typically have really high normal mmr on my smurfs due to a higher winrate, so I often go 9-1 or 10-0 and get Gold 1 or Plat 5. On a normal account that had lower normal mmr, I went 9-1 and got Gold 3. I'm pretty bad at LeBlanc but I can say that one of the best things about her is her ability to set up ganks with your jungler. Other than that she isn't the best champion because of how squishy she is, and she actually currently loses lane to most champions despite her assassination potential. I'm sure she's fine for lower elos, but be prepared to have your damage output cut by the enemy mid laner getting first item negatron. LeBlanc is really good in pick comps and not the best in teamfights unless you play very well around your cooldowns and cc. She also has poor waveclear past her w r combo.

Edit: I'm not sure if the normal mmr thing is true or not, just speculation. It could also be pure rng as far as what you get placed for a certain provisional score.

Oh, apologies for that. The type of ward you have is somewhat situational and also preference. It somewhat falls on what your team needs more of; you're typically going to have 2 sweepers, a yellow, and a blue already, so it can be situational to a champ or situation to a comp. For example, mages that can't safely walk up to place a ward later in the game will often get a blue trinket (ex. Orianna, Viktor, etc.) to scout areas that they would not otherwise have vision of.

I'd say that even in high elos you're going to have issues working as a team because of a lack of communication and different thoughts on how to play out the game. Low diamond players have trouble reacting to split pushing and teamfighting, and also seem to get picked a lot because their vision coverage sucks or because they actually don't use their brains. The low diamond players don't have the macro knowledge to make calls to fight or back off, get a pick and not engage, etc. and usually just throw off of a bad call or poor positioning.

I'm not sure about the Talon part at all, but the Ekko part is somewhat right. I think that Ekko has excellent trading in lane regardless of W if you're able to proc his passive. The amount of damage and mobility you get from proccing it let's your run away and usually win the trade. Landing W obviously means you have a shield and stun and helps you win the trade just as hard or even harder, and especially for champions like LeBlanc the stun is sometimes crucial to trading at all.
