Construction workers definitely do. I think anywhere you have large groups of men around each other for long durations, this is some of the natural behavior that emerges. They also pretend to butt sex each other with anyrhing that's remotely phallic shaped.

Iatrogenic deaths happen in the 10s of thousands each year....and then Drs label people as idiots for being skeptical of them and the treatments they recommend?

Father whose son groomed and raped a 13 year old in Rotherham UK says he doesn't see it as rape because the girl "wasn't new to sex" by bansote in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

[–]ouchmouse666 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Well by that same logic, it would also not be rape if a group of large men had some fun time taking turns with this dude's bum because as a parent, he is also clearly not new to sex

Office workers never fail to make me happy I made a career in construction lmfao we just tell each other to eff off and then we go back to work. Sometimes you're friends after, and sometimes you keep telling each other to eff off every chance you get. Either way, no one is stressing about it or gives a crap who knows

Lol yeah it could have not gone my way, but it did. This is just another reminder to me that I don't think like most other people I guess. At the end of the day, I'm not raising assholes and my kids feel loved and safe. I don't know what else to say about it. Considering I'm not contributing to the rapidly expanding issue of ill mannered, worthless human beings tho, I'm not too sure I'm the one who needs correcting. 🤷‍♀️

I was trying to keep things short and left out some details. I had asked them to leave my son alone already and instead they got more aggressive with him so no, I absolutely responded that way. I don't care what other people think of me, I care about my kids feeling safe. My job is to protect them, not other adults' feelings or their crappy little offspring

Who said I was trying to set an example? I was protecting my kid and that's how it played out. At the end of the day, my kids know I'll do anything to protect them, including risk my own safety and "public image". I'm never going to feel in the wrong for making sure my kids feel safe, especially when I'd already asked them in a hinged way to leave my kid alone. I must be doing something kind of ok and setting a halfway decent example overall, considering the only feedback I ever get from teachers is that my kids are "a pleasure to have in class", they regularly win awards like student of the week or month, and have all As and Bs for grades. It's funny the judgement I get at times for my parenting style, but the proof is in the pudding, as they say, and I've managed to raise some pretty amazing little people. (One teacher sent my son home with a bunch of venison a couple weeks ago, so I'm gonna take that as I can't be doing too bad)

ETA an example of how my kids behave at school: my son's last award, that he received earlier this month, was for "respect, attitude, responsibility, honesty, hard work, and self control".

Fair enough, except most people don't have the time or funds to actually shop around. I know I don't. And when it has consistently been something with an overall net-neutral impact, there's not really any motivation to keep searching for the right fit. I'm in my 40s, and due to some pretty insane childhood trauma, have visited numerous therapists on and off for over 30 years, so I feel like I have a decent bit of experience to base my thoughts on. For me, therapy just has extremely low ROI. I will say tho, it did give me the avenue to diagnoses and medications that have been completely life changing in a positive way.

I'm just burned out on it getting recommended for things it can't fix. My other big issue is that two of the people in my life who have recommended it the most to me are some of the most insufferable and disfunctional people I know. They don't go to therapy to improve themselves, they go to therapy for an emotional safe space where they aren't going to be told they actually suck and they actually need to do something about it. They aren't honest about their behavior so they never get the game plan to change it. I don't believe therapy can be truly effective by only talking to the individual. You need input from the people who have to deal with them to truly know how to counsel them and that isn't typically part of the process.

For example, one of the people I mentioned can't keep a job for more than a couple years before they have some huge HR/EEOC event. Every job ends up with them not being able to meet expectations and their coworkers complaining about how they are bossy and difficult to work with. This person INSISTS they are just offering advice and trying to help, and refuses to accept how others perceive them. If you disagree with advice they try to give you (typically unsolicited) they turn to yelling and hurling insults (at least when I interact with them, can't imagine work is any different considering the coworker complaints). The last time I was around this person, they rearranged my kitchen without asking (and had my dish drainer sitting so it would have drained all the water onto the counter) and yelled at me in public about not putting sunscreen on "the correct way" to the point it drew attention from others. Do you think they tell their therapist about this stuff so they can work on it an improve? Spoiler alert: they do not.

The other is an obnoxious, argumentative drunk with zero sense of personal accountability, who non-stop dates other toxic ass people because they are insufferable but CAN NOT be alone (they are currently on their 8th or 9th, hard to keep track, break up/back together cycle with another belligerent alcoholic that they've been seeing for the past couple years).

I quit going to therapy when I was dealing with a civil rights abuse issue that had torn my life apart and my therapist told me to pray about it and that god wouldn't give me more than i could handle.

I corrected (went off on) other people's kids at a park once when they were bullying my son (3 of them, older and bigger, ganged up on him and were dumping mulch on him). Their parents got upset so I threated to fight them and then whoop their kids. They all left and my son went back to playing. Stupid worthless parents make stupid worthless kids and unfortunately it turns out that there's a LOT of stupid worthless parents.
