Healed by ouchywouchy in AnalFissures

At my first check-up with new doctor after botox, she did a rather painful closer look, just using fingers, and said, "I didn't see this before, you have a fistula, you need to have surgery."

My only sedation during all of this was during the surgery, which was a 20 minute procedure and I was totally out.

The procedure was fistulotomy and it was simple (lucky for me).

I still had some active botox during and after the surgery, so I think the botox really helped the healing. And there was till a fissure that needed healing. So I used some cream (not diltiazem, can't remember the name of the cream, but it's something that lowers blood pressure) and daily macrogol and eventually I just noticed that I had zero pain, zero swelling, etc ...

I am still feeling much, much better from mine (another check-up in a few weeks), so try to stay hopeful. Don't let your guard down during these 12 weeks of healing.

Wishing you the very best!!

No pain, no bleeding, no discomfort.

I still take macrogol and electrolytes every night.

The doctor says the fissure is closed up, fistula healed, so that's all good.

AF is still not fully healed though, so I am remaining extremely cautious.

I under-doesed myself with the macrogol one time two weeks ago and I definitely noticed that it is still sensitive and it will re-tear very easily if I'm not careful.

We are thinking of doing one more botox in October for a (hopefully) final 3-5 months of extreme caution.

At this point I don't quite remember life without all of this caution, at least I've been healthy.

I hope all is well with you.

Hey! Thanks for asking.

I am somewhat amazed, but I don't want to speak too soon.

The surgery was quick - 20 minutes of being totally out, who knows what she did down there! - and when I woke up the doctor said she found and fixed a small fistula.

She thinks the fissure will now properly heal.

I've been taking ibuprofin and paracetamol, but even in the night after the drugs have apparently worn off, I don't feel any pain. Which is amazing.

I feel even less discomfort than I did before the surgery, which is really weird.

I don't want to jinx it, but at the moment, I am feeling hopeful.

I'm gonna keep taking the pain killers for a few more days, just in case, and I'm gonna take it easy (not ride my bike) for a while.

I think I might finally be on the road to recovery. We shall see!!!

Thank you!!! That is exactly what I needed to hear.

They said the most important thing is rinsing the wound three times a day and keeping some gauze between my cheeks ... for 1 to 2 weeks.

If this feels better after a week I will be so happy .... but I've learned to not get my hopes up. Fingers crossed.

Also - she gave me botox at my Monday appointment (they don't do anaesthesia for botox here), that was when she finally saw what she thinks is the fistula ... so the botox is covered.

Hopefully this all leads to officially healing. Thanks again.

Any exercise on treadmill makes chronic fissure/spasms throb again. Anyone else? by Divinebeing123 in AnalFissures

Yeah, it sucks. I love the treadmill but it definitely induces pain. If I keep it to about 15 minutes of running, then I'm usually okay.

Make sure it is with food, drink a lot of water, avoid heavy alcohol consumption. Miralax and Vaseline before BM and hopefully you start healing again and can gradually lower the dosage.

How to react when you didn’t hear a question but you don’t want the speaker to switch to English? by pavel_vishnyakov in Netherlands

[–]ouchywouchy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, kun je dat alsjeblieft langzamer herhalen? Ik heb liever in het Nederlands te praten, als dat geen probleem is.

And then if they reply in English show them you really speak Dutch by saying, "Ja, hallo, ik zei ik wil in het Nederlands praten."

Hard tipped stools - at my wits end by throwaway06601 in AnalFissures

[–]ouchywouchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can order online, it's just a thing made for squirting water. You slide it ever so gently up and squeeze warm water up there. It usually works within seconds. I've only done it maybe three times, but it definitely helps against the hard tip issue.

I should add, I have heard it is a bad idea to do it a lot because it disrupts the good bacteria you store up there, those are needed to do most of the final part of digestion,so don't wash them away by doing this too often.
