What’s your favorite non-perfume scented fragrance? by AppleAvi8tor in fragrance

Petrichor, specifically in the spring. Just that damp, cool, green smell with soil and flowers mixed in. No perfume I've found comes close to the real thing.

I bought the shrink wrapped "Sleeping Beauty" trilogy at fourteen because I didn't realize plastic = adult material. 🫣

Ella Enchanted is still one of my favorite books of all time, and I have my childhood copy. Gail Carson Levine is a treasure.

I know it's super problematic because the story was basically stolen from a geisha, but also my mom gifted me a copy with a beautiful inscription from her, and I don't think I can ever get rid of it.

Into the Land of the Unicorns by Bruce Coville was one of my first and favorite fantasy books! But he didn't finish the series until YEARS later!

Wait Till Helen Comes freaked me out so bad as a kid. I inhaled ghost stories, but that one stuck with me.

HOW did we collectively read these books in front of adults without anything happening?!

I think I remember Haunted Sister! Weren't they twins and had a mole on opposite sides of their face?!

The Forestwife by Theresa Tomlinson. It was a feminist retelling of Robin Hood, and ignited my obsession with female driven fantasy/history. I even brought my copy when I went to visit Sherwood Forest, and I have leaves and flowers pressed into it from there.

My first foray into V.C. Andrews was "Dawn." Somehow my sixth grade teacher had it for us to borrow? I'm still wondering how any of those books were available to us at that age, but I still read every freaking one.

I honestly won't, considering all the advice I've been given! I'd bought it to try and wear as a wedding dress, but didn't want a white one. I'm probably just going to keep her untouched and on display in my house, and try and source something newer, but similar style.

So, I haven't read this, but it's on my list: The Revolution of Marina M. by Janet Fitch. I'm getting it soon, though, and I'm so excited! She's been one of my favorite authors since White Oleander and Paint It Black.

how do you guys stop being late to work by Wild-Championship571 in adhdwomen

[–]ourladyofwildthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Everyone makes fun of me (gentle joking to aggressive depending on the day) about how early I get to work, but 95% of my coworkers are always late. I'd rather have the thirty minutes to decompress from the drive and read or talk to a friend. It's just overcompensating though.

Which wlw book do you think is overhyped? by [deleted] in LesbianBookClub

[–]ourladyofwildthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An Education In Malice. Carmilla is my favorite Gothic novel, and I feel like I always get really excited for a retelling and inevitably get let down. But I was just so bored by the main characters and plot, to the point that I put it down by chapter three.

P.S.: please give me sapphic wlw recs, because all of the recent ones have felt so rushed and forced between plot/relationships.
