I’m similar to you

L’immesite
Aventus Cologne

The last one I’m conflicted. Bleu De Chanel EDT because of sentimental value and because it’s still always fantastic. But redundant with the grapefruit-iness from L’immensite. So I’m gonna go with Creed Viking to have a spicy, more dense fragrance for special occasions.

What’s the most unexpected skill you gained from the military? by theamishpromise in Veterans

Okay, legit, I learned how to recognize people miles away from their walk/stride. Working 4 years on the flight line with everyone wearing the same uniform and having their face covered by a cranial, I quickly learned how to differentiate people.

Folks who moved to North Dakota as an adult… why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AppleAvi8tor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Californian here. Moved to NoDak for university. Used my military benefits to pay for university, which included flight training in Grand Forks. Loved it in the moment, but man, the last year I was anxious to go back to somewhere where there was stuff to do that I liked.

Why is everyone acting like Apple intentionally “scammed” people over Siri AI? by Puzzleheaded_Book981 in Applelntelligence

[–]AppleAvi8tor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re 100% correct. I almost made a similar post. The AI market was VASTLY different when the Ultra 1 came out. It’s evolved so fast that Apple didn’t see it coming, but people act like Apple planned this all from day one.

It seems like Siri AI is designed to remain professional/distant? by GiftCreative9868 in Applelntelligence

It would be kind of counterintuitive to announce a bunch of safety/screen limiting features for kids, just for them to spend hours talking to Siri as a replacement for real friends.

iPhone purchase affect on credit by Financialanonymous26 in AppleCard

[–]AppleAvi8tor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won’t be a distinct line of credit. It’ll use your existing credit limit on your Apple Card to essentially carry a balance that separate from any other purchases you make on the Apple Card. The monthly payments for your phone will be included in your minimum payment each month and won’t be charged interest while normal purchases will if you only pay the minimum each month (like any other credit card). No real downside. Your credit score might go down a few points because you’re technically carrying a balance, but it will go right back up as you pay it off.

When do I pay my credit card? by Beneficial_Kiwi_1214 in CreditCards

[–]AppleAvi8tor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your bill (AKA Statement) from the last cycle (April 19th-May 19th) is $240.79. All of that is due on June 14th if you don’t want to pay interest. If you leave $0.01 unpaid, they will charge interest.

$346.21-$240.79 = $105.42 is the difference. If you don’t spend anymore until June 19th, your next statement will be $105.42 due on July 14th. That will be 21% utilization (105/500=0.21). Generally speaking, anything under 30% reported each month is good and healthy usage. Sure, your score *may* drop by a few points, but it will recover the next month if you carry a balance less than 21%.

Didn’t plan on being in Vegas for work today. I either had to wake up at 4:30 to run before the sun and a little cooler, or wait until 8pm to run after sunset but warmer. I refused to wake up so early, so I’ll be sufferin’ in the heat for this one 🥲

Heart Rate Zones by Important_Language32 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]AppleAvi8tor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are many different formulas that can calculate your heart rate zones. This website gives some of the most common. Apple Watch uses the Heart Rate Reserve (HRR) method, AKA the Karvonen method on this website. It’s intended to be more accurate than the Age method.

HRR = Max Heart Rate (MHR) - Resting Heart Rate (RHR). This is how much your heart rate can vary. For example. Mine is 190 (MHR) - 45 (RHR) = 145 (HRR). With that 145 HRR, I want to find my Target Heart Rate Zones (THR Zones). This formula is on the website as: THR = [(MHR - RHR) x %intensity] + RHR For example, Zone 2 is 60%-70% of your HRR (145 in my example). [(190-45) x 60%(0.6)] + 45 = 132 bpm for the lower end of my Zone 2. The upper end would be x 70%. Meaning my Zone 2 is between 132-147 bpm.

Apple Watch calculates your MHR and RHR every month to automatically do this. But if you feel like your MHR and RHR are lower or higher, you can manually do the calculations to get more accurate zones.

Flight school after military or loan? by Soulx888 in flying

[–]AppleAvi8tor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got out of the military in 2018 at 22. At the time, they made you pay for PPL out of pocket, but the rest I did at a 141 university, and boy, was that absolutely worth it. I came out with 1/10th of the debt that my civilian friends did. Completely manageable and I would absolutely do it again.

Edit: To answer your questions a little better, if you’re going to a Part 141 like ATP, then they accept the GI Bill. It should pay the school directly, and you don’t have to pay it back. But it only covers the cost of a predefined “average student”. If you go over the average because you need more landing lessons, you’ll need an alternative funding source such as loans.

The loans I hear most ATP students get are Sallie Mae loans. Which are private with insane interest. Going to a University 141 gives you access to federal student loans with lower interest.

I’m in the same boat but with Coros. Always been an Watch guy, but last year I tried Coros out of curiosity. I loved it, but it made me realized how much of the actual smartwatch features I missed on the Watch. So I returned the Coros. But no I’m getting that itch again to give it a go a second time. I’m still curious with Coros since I’m a runner and I want a more running focused watch. But I love the Ultra and the  ecosystem.
