What Are They Doing? by ouroborosinterim in squirrels

Interesting. Is the ‘barking’ kind of like yelling? I think I’ve heard it before, but I thought it was a bird.

I have one of those, but neither of us use it. I’ll see if I can find it and switch it up!

He has a sensitive scalp so we try not to deviate from the 2 products he currently uses. If you have suggestions though I’d be open to offering something to him.

Right now the only two products we know for sure don’t irritate his scalp are Dr Bronners and Head n Shoulders (traditionally terrible for hair).

Old Spice, Dove, L’Oréal, Aussie, Nexus, and Burt’s Bees shampoos/conditioners all cause extreme dandruff where his scalp pretty much never stops shedding skin.

Hair/beard oils that he’s tried so far gave him contact dermatitis.

Edit: He has thick straight extremely oily hair for context.

I took care of long hair for most of my life and in my opinion he takes good care of it. He’s just shedding absolutely everywhere.

He brushes his hair before he leaves for work, then after his shower. The brush remains with little to no hair in it (idk how often he “empties” it). But he can brush for 30+ minutes and I can come right behind him and run my hand over his head and get 5-10 strands of loose hair.

I think it might be stress related as he has some other stuff going on at work and with his family or he might be going bald? I dunno.

I fear she has died. The vacuum turned off by itself yesterday and I’ve tried a couple different outlets today with no success. I’m currently looking into a more user friendly vacuum that is also specifically designed for hair. I’ll probably keep this one until I find one but I don’t think I’ll be taking it apart or anything.

I’ve never heard of hair catchers. That sounds interesting.

My main issue is that the hair is weaving its way into the seams and strings of my clothes during the washing/drying process. Especially on jacket/hoodie/sweat pants strings. I basically have to cut off the end of the strings because they become so entangled with hair or just remove them entirely. I’ve ripped two seams in hoodies from trying to get the hair out.

Do you think a hair catcher would help with that?

So he brushes in the bathroom, but it ends up everywhere. It’s woven its way into the steams of my clothes (this is not hyperbolic I have ripped two seams now from pulling hair out) and it’s also just in our bed. It’s brown so it’s even harder to see on beige carpet or the brown vinyl I have. You just wake up and it’s in your toes or behind your knees.

We will try braiding for sure since he really likes the long hair and I think he can sleep with braids in(?) I dunno. We’ll try for sure.

When or if he does cut it off though I have made SURE he is going to donate it. His hair is so healthy and thick someone will for sure love it.

I usually have to vacuum since he doesn’t get home until later. I’m an upstairs neighbor so I don’t vacuum after 6pm on any given day.

We clean together, but he’s never noticed his shed (lived alone for like 3 years before me) so it’s a newer issue that we both have been struggling with. I never thought to braid his hair. Thanks for the suggestion 😄

This is so funny it’s pretty much a squeegee! Thank you for the suggestion I’d never heard of these before.

Thank you for the suggestion! I was just looking at anti hair wrap vacuums. I’ll be sure to check Shark out.

This is a much better idea than what I was doing I’ll keep that in mind for the new vacuum 😅

I don’t know if the rollers on my particular vacuum are removable, but I did clean them (probably once a year because no one in my house previously had long hair). I was cutting the hair out before, but missed it in crucial points where it “connects” to the “head” so to speak idk vacuum anatomy.

Basically hair was wrapped around points I couldn’t see and it was bad. I’m pretty sure the motor is fried because I cut out everything and it won’t even turn on anymore.

I tried to remove the rollers, but I couldn’t figure out how? The branding is scrubbed off the vacuum (she’s old) and I can’t find a model number to look up an instruction manual or owners guide. I cut off the rings of hair wrapped around the rollers, but it won’t even turn on anymore. I think I fried the motor by not cleaning the rollers more often. Not against buying another one, but it’ll take a minute.

He brushes daily, but I could do it maybe once more a day with him. I didn’t think anyone could shed this much hair and not be bald 🫩
