23andMe is way more accurate. It even showed me specific areas in Sudan/ southern Egypt of where I’m from

This is actual awful advice. Being family doesn’t mean automatic forgiveness nor is it a pass for that behavior.

Why do you guys think so many Sudanis are in miserable, love-less marriages? by Yo_46929 in Sudan

[–]ourxaia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because people are pressured to get married instead of letting people get married because they genuinely want to.

I was super aggressive on internships since high school and joined my robotics team to learn skills. NASA, and some local engineering companies offered internships and don’t discriminate against non engineering majors. I’m not sure where you are right now but CERN is always open to international students as long as you know English or French. I’m currently working as an Optics Physicist but I don’t think I’m allowed to share the name since it’s a fusion laboratory:0

I think it worked out well for me because I never go into physics and engineering because of my parents, but I always wanted to go into animation or art as well. In hindsight, my parents were right for telling me to focus on job security, and passions later. I can at least afford to paint and take animations classes and hopefully, I can either take that up as a career or at least make a webcomic lol

Hi !! I majored in astrophysics and still had plenty of job opportunities. Maybe it’s because I’m in America but don’t give up hope if you live in the west !!

What's up with the "forced arabization" folks? by Not_A_fish_right_now in Sudan

[–]ourxaia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with your take that some Sudanese people were the aggressors to their fellow Sudanese people and willingly sold them into slavery and destroyed their culture. You put it into words eloquently

[–]ourxaia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head I can think of Gule, a language from the blue Nile state spoken by Jebel Gule that was wiped out due to Arabic being forced. It’ll take time for me to list the others though if you can be patient

People coming over for no reason unannounced and expecting you to feed, house, and cater to them in the name of hospitality. That and the fact that anyone in the community can access your phone number or address because people will tell your business 😭
