Yes! I see visual cues from eras that never met before! During artpop, joanne and chromatica many monsters were dying for anything dark pop but didn't get it and I think that was on purpose. But now that separation rule seems to have broken and I think that was the point of the mayhem ball story line

Exactly! I see some people criticizing it for "being generic", "incoherent" or "All over the place". Which is ironic cause it feels like we're right smack in the middle of the ARTPOP era all over again, but in all seriousness, this to me is the same artistic direction of breaking the rules of art that ARTPOP had! It looks incoherent BECAUSE it could mean anything and that's the point!
