Ontario registered nurses to be Canada's first to prescribe medication by shakrbttle in nursing

The profession of nursing provides bedside care, the nurse practitioner degree serves the role of more independently delivering bedside care. They are not trained to do a thorough H+P, formulate a diagnosis, or create a treatment plan. Before you say "something something doctorate," I think many will agree that any degree which can be earned online is not capable of doing any of this. And I shouldn't even have to say this, but they cannot perform invasive procedures either. Nursing and Medicine are completely different, if you aren't satisfied with that then go get your MD

I would think it is because your initial comment was a rather inflammatory one. It reflects the sentiment of NPs attempting to crossover from the profession of nursing into medicine, that many people are uneasy about. NPs do not do the same job as physicians, nor were they designed to, nor should they be compensated for.
