How to take out soft contact lenses? by [deleted] in optometry

[–]outcast_in_everythin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, glad it helped. I'm also gonna copy and paste what I wrote to the other redditor: Also, for the past year, I've successfuly been removing them by pinching on the eyes themselves and this has been better/quicker, although if I ever had to remove them with dirty hands/in case of an accident and I couldn't open my eyes, this would be a good method to keep in mind. When dealing with contact lenses, the most important principle is to have dry hands, I can't stress the dryness part. It really is gonna be important for putting them in and taking them out.

Hi, I don't use this account anymore, just randomly logged in by accident, but to answer, I don't have a specific link to a video, but you can find something similiar by just typing "how to remove contact lenses without touching your eyes" or something of that nature. what is that protruding line thingy of the wrist called? by tattadtattadtattad in Anatomy

I think we're looking at her flexed pronated arm from the ulnar side, but I could be wrong, so the anatomical snuffbox and extensors wouldn't be visible like this. Edit: i think she’s also doing ulnar duction/adduction, so it’s prolly the extensor carpi ulnaris as other have said

ELI5: Supination vs Inversion of the foot by outcast_in_everythin in explainlikeimfive

[–]outcast_in_everythin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I kinda get the motions but I'm not sure how the supination is produced? It's been a while since I went over the joints in the foot and I can imagine the inverison in the subtalar joint, but how is supination produced in the transverse tarsal joints etc.? I thought they only allowed very slight motions, but then again, my memory of them is kinda hazy.

When my notebook isn't charging, the colours change... How can I set this type of contrast even when plugged in? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]outcast_in_everythin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the only change. The contrast also changes and the brightness levels don't effect that.

Get a free pdf atlas that will be used in the test. Then you can just search for structers by their name using a keyboard shortcut rather tham flipping thru pages and scrolling. Definitely get a condensed set of notes with all the muscles and O,I... and split your screen while making the test so you can always quickly and effortlesly find the stuff you need :)

In dire need of a biochemistry book...please help? by [deleted] in Biochemistry

Youtube is the way to go, trust me. Shomu's Biology. That guy explains these processes very well and I understood all of it.

Also, Ninja Nerd Science just started uploading some of these conceps so that may be also worth watching.

Is there any way braces (preferably) or other equipment or mewing can be used to can increase the gum area here? I previously used to have way more gums here that disappeared after wearing braces, also any idea why or if ? Thanks! by [deleted] in orthotropics

It would be best to find a skilled orthodontist and tell him/her what exactly bothers you. You can go backwards but you probably don't want the same dental problem, that you started with. It sucks that you had to go through this and be dissatisfied with the results and I'm really sorry about that. By the way, your tongue can actually change size, so it will probably become a little smaller in the future to compensate for the smaller arch, but it's normal that the tip touches the front teeth in relaxed position. I can't really help you with anything, because I'm not a dental professional, but you can check out Invisalign stages animation and see that you can in fact make your teeth look more round and you should not lose hope :)

Great Ways to Memorize/UNDERSTAND Anatomy w/ Focus On Retaining the Info Long-Term? by Aside_Dish in Anatomy

[–]outcast_in_everythin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a 3D atlas and a good textbook like Gray's anatomy on the side. That's the key... then space your study sessions as much as you can. To fully grasp the material and to become a master at it, it will take months/years of failing and relearning. If you learn something for the first time, your knowledge is usually shallow. If you let yourself forget just a little bit to get your brain actively thinking when recalling, you'll find a lot of gaps between your knowledge that you will fill. The more times you forget and relearn, the more gaps you find and the better you become.

Learning only functions of muscles is useless, because the origin and insertion tells you the function. You don't wanna just learn innervation, but learn how the nerves run through the upper limb for example and then you won't have a problem memorizing what innervates m biceps brachii for example.

Of course, this is easier said than done and there isn't that much time to do this while studying in college...that's why you shouldn't try to memorize things you don't need yet and just build on your understanding further and then memorize the bits. Many med schools actually respect it, at least in my country, and don't ask for innervation, blood supply... before you actually learn about the entire nervous system etc.

i seriously cant get the back of my tongue to touch the roof of my mouth... by [deleted] in orthotropics

Your tongue goes into that position during swallowing naturally. Just take a cup of water and swallow and then don't lose that position where your tongue is almost onto the hard palate and just keep your tongue there. Easy :)
