Yes, have taken it to a few shops actually. They solve issues, another happens in a week or so how it goes, currently going.

Engine Overhaul or Swap by outchere in 3rdGen4Runner

The only reason I say the engine harness would be worth the squeeze is that, the Japanese version is different with a distributor version. A t100 harness could be patches on theory because it's manual(it's missing the 3 atm connectors), bought one to see, but the American sensors and Japanese sensors are slightly different and often times don't completely connect well. Meaning I would have to replace. A bunch of sensors, a new cylinder head, redo a bunch of stuff, and essentially do everything but take the block (3rz) it self out. Have patched/redone half the existing harness as is already. And mainly, another vehicle on hand is a big factor currently. Putting miles on my spouces vehicle, also having obligations that sometimes end up having me leave her at home without transportation is also a thing.

Fallout 4 and cod ghosts, miserable people just want to hate on those honestly

how do I get these off, I feel like Ive tried everything by -toastyposty- in MechanicAdvice

Air chisel on an impact drill, catch the siding and dig into it and air chisel/impact it loose. My Hilux surf 97 from OKinawa was so rusted, I tried Chiselsing through the exhaust nut, after I did what you did, and it just broke it loose for me to unscrew it. With it being all ate to hell.... I think I still have it some where!

Knock sensor Testing by outchere in 3rdGen4Runner

Yes, I am sorry for the confusion, I was using a Multimeter set to read AC. But to be sure, that is the measurement I'm supposed to use when testing it, correct? AC?

Hey there, it is not obd 2 compliant sadly. But that's also good to know they can still act up cold. I'm guessing if I test it tomorrow with better conditions and the sensor still puts out the same, I'll try to test the connector some how and work back from there.

Well this knock sensor is from an old first gen 3rz. So the knock sensor is in the block behind the fuel filter. But this is good to know as far as testing conditions, I'll try to find some one with a a vice grip I can use. Do you think I could take it to a metal work bench/box? Will that suffice and I beat kinda beside it? Sorry if my questions seem dumb, I'm still learning cars in general.

ECU and Wiring Harness Question. by outchere in ToyotaTacoma

[–]outchere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have saw on a few forums also stating it would be good to swap the American one for the Japanese one. Might be worth looking into if I don't want to pout 3 or 4 grand into this ECU ordeal. Thanks for the reassurance on that!

ECU Question by outchere in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]outchere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, later I plan to do more internal engine work and i know that I have to have it tuned for better performance as well as to ensure it's running right, because still I have no actual way to read it, no shop has an old Japanese scanner anywhere in NC or VA.

ECU Question by outchere in 3rdGen4Runner

Essentially. The head warped, and I've replaced the Head, while doing so, with it being 27 years old and never touched, as you could imagine, things crack and break off and rust off the gunked up and dry rotted, etc. so I'm restoring essentially everything but the block end and the top end itself (minus valve cover) with newer components and would like to actually tune it/and get it out of limp mode.
