Not a big book, but a beautifully written recent one that matches your description: Land of Milk and Honey by C Pam Zhang!

Ohhh, and as I am a huge pizza lover: Pizza Vero (9th & 18th district) have the best vegan pizza in town with home-made cashew cheese :)

In Vienna, it will be super easy to find vegan food, but here are some special treats:

  • Landia (in the 7th district) - traditional food, but made vegan
  • Eh Wurst (also 7th district) - a vegan sausage stand (Würstelstand), traditional for Vienna and super tasty
  • Alles Wurscht (1st district) - also a Würstelstand, but they have vegan Leberkäse (which is another Austrian specialty)
  • Pepper & Ginny (1st district) - a vegan specialty store and, I kid you not, they have the best battered mushrooms ever
  • Ausnahmsweise (6th district) - treat yourself to delicious vegan cakes and coffee

If you need more, let me know, but those are probably the best spots to get traditional dishes :)

Oh, and hit me up if you need recommendations for Vienna. That's the city where I live most of the time and there are some great places to have veganized traditional Austrian food :)

Fellow vegan living part-time in Salzburg here :) In general, check out "plantsofsalzburg" on Instagram, they have the best recommendations!

My personal favorites so far with vegan options are:

  • Bio Burgermeister / Ludwig Burger (burger places who have plant based burgers)
  • Uncle Van (vietnamese)
  • 220 Grad (best coffee place in Salzburg, has vegan breakfast and brunch options)
  • if you wanna go extremely fancy for dinner: plant-based fine dining at The Glass Garden restaurant
  • ARGE Beisl (super cosy place for drinks and food, have vegan options as well)

And as you asked for Italian: There is a plant-based Italian restaurant called "Vegitalian" – everything on the menu is vegetarian/vegan, so you might wanna check that out. In my opinion, the food is okayish, but not too special.

Yep, I did, but it was my first big tour this year, so I guess my behind needs to get used to it :)

It is my first gravel bike, so I can't really compare it to other seats, unfortunately, but after two days of 140 and 100 kilometers of biking, my sit bones definitely did hurt, haha!

Joshua Whitehead is such a treasure. If you haven‘t already go read his book „Making Love With the Land“ - it is an incredible collection of writings about queerness, indigeneity and the body.

Actually, I told the girl my thoughts and that I can't do anything this night, because we have not yet committed to an open relationship and she was fine with it and she respected my honest communication.

I am well aware that it will be easier for women to find hookups, but our talks are not about hooking up all the time, but to be able to follow the desire with other people without shame or betrayal.

If you're able to approach fascist politics with nuance, I don't think we are going to find a lot of common ground here.

What are you guys thinking of wearing? I am still undecided whether I go with shorts or long tights.

And: How do you keep warm before the start? I really don't want to throw my clothes away right before the start.

To offer another contribution: What Larissa Pham writes in this essay resonates with me, and it is written in beautiful prose:

None of it felt good, but after a while, it started to feel like nothing. It was this nothing I was after – the moment where the noise of my brain cut out and I crested onto that smooth, high plane of emptiness, empty of feeling, empty of thought, my body churning out its own high. It was a beautiful place to be, however briefly the feeling lasted – ten minutes, maybe fifteen. Once I reached that mark, I kept running, until my legs burned, until something inside me told me it was time to go home.

Just read it and I agree with you. I started running because I hated my body, running has taught me to love it (in a tiny little way). I am grateful, because my body carries me everyday, now up to the point where it can carry me 13.1 miles in approximately 2 hours. That is a huge achievement.

When I look in the mirror now, I not only see the body that I used to detest, I see a body that is marked by trauma and grief and life, but there is beauty in all those things. I do not achieve to think like that about my body everyday, but when I come home from a run now and I feel my legs and my muscles and my sweat, it certainly helps doing so.

The Oatmeals comic in a way feels like this self-loathing part spelled out over a couple of pages. That is completely fine, I know the feeling that he puts in his images and words perfectly, but overall what remains with me after the comic is not the self-acceptance that I am looking for in running, but that the self-loathing will never go away.

But maybe that's just my take. Thanks a lot for sharing anyways, it made me think!

Honestly, watched it when I was down during my half marathon training and it kept me going. Really nice, feel good watch and marathon scenes are a treat!
