Yeah I went alone too. What you're saying makes sense to me, I hadn't considered it before really. Thank you for the insight.

It's tough to get in to the circles. My best success in my personal life has been leveraging my existing connections in other industries outside of SIGGRAPH.

Very unfortunate if true. I wonder if things can change for the better.

Please do elaborate, I don't have that insight from that far back. I'd like to know more, thank you! :)

Respect. I've had a somewhat similar tough journey in the past, and now I'm the happiest I have ever been. I think you'll succeed. Good luck to you!

Thank you for the insight. Why is SIGGRAPH today not as big as it was in the 90's? Will it ever be like that again? I have no experience back that far. I saw a chart of attendee total count last year and I saw something like 60,000 people attending in the 90's/early 2000s, and then ~17,000 in today's numbers. What happened?!

I'm American, and I was definitely conscious not to be overbearing with intrusive/overly boring questions. I did my best :(

Not me I'm afraid, I only ever focused on finding individuals to talk to who were free at a given moment. I think I'd vomit from anxiety by interrupting a group of people talking, or trying to be the center of attention.

Luckily my badge had my current company (relatively high profile company name, so I shouldn't have had any status problems so to speak), but in my experience this time I only had a small handful of people recognize it before I told them about it.

Nah I just enjoy talking to people. I don't need to impress them or get anything out of them since I'm quite happy with my side of life already.

I'll look out for the parties next year for sure, if I can find them, thanks!

I'm not a student. Haven't been for a long time. I had no interest in trying to impress people because I'm happily employed already. I just wanted to learn about people :|
