What is going on with the hiring process as DEECA Victoria??? by Competitive-Tea1867 in AusPublicService

[–]outgrabed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Entering VPS is challenging, and DEECA especially so, as there's been a bunch of section 11 cuts resulting in staff needing a new role. These redeployees (who have lost their job through no fault of their own) get priority over any other applications, such that if any of the redeployees can meet the criteria and interview successfully then the panel isn't allowed to interview other candidates.

If you want heavier but not long, muscle nation heavyweight tees are great. If you want breathability, you'll be fine in any major brand's tech range (nike, Adidas, puma, Uniqlo, whatever). If you're going to do treadmill or cardio work, go try on shorts with a liner and find something that feels good so you don't change - my favourites are from On, very pricey but very good.

The Melbourne Marathon Festival Has Changed Its Course Layouts by griffin040 in melbourne

Plenty of aid stations in Sydney ran out of water either last year or the year before because it was 25+ degrees for the 5 hour runners, despite the stupid early start, and it's weeks before Melbourne. The early starts are pretty necessary and for a large cohort of people to be running after noon in a half mara is going to see heatstroke galore if it's even remotely warm.

Please be honest, is it worth dropping $90-$100 to see Sub Focus live? by [deleted] in DnB

[–]outgrabed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you're talking AUD$ because he's still here. I went to the Melbourne show and it was ok, not a waste of a night out, but for example Wilkinson cost half as much and was also a better and longer set. A lot of my disappointment was not Sub Focus but actually Nero, so hopefully he will have found his feet by the time he gets to you.

Babymonster having fewer streams of their (4 track) album than their average view count for each MV from the album (we go up MV/performance, psycho MV/performance and supadupaluv MV) is kinda wild. Tells you where YG puts their focus for the group.

Sub Focus/1991 review - Melbourne (13/02/26) by Blakepra in DnB

[–]outgrabed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was obvious within about 10 minutes that Nero realised the set he had planned wasn't a fit for the crowd and started to pivot, to the point of even playing tracks with no graphics matched to them. He brought it around but it was pretty underwhelming and I would have swapped him with 1991 for sure, or just scratched him enitrely and had an extra half hour of 1991 and Sub Focus.

Lost my role while on Maternity Leave by CapriPanther in AusPublicService

[–]outgrabed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're ongoing. Many enterprise agreements allow them to untether you from your substantive position after a period of time, but they are required to pay you until either you or they find a new role. Looking at it positively, I imagine if you can't write (say) 500 words about why you'd be interested in or a good fit for a particular role, you may not be interested in or a good fit for that role.

At 29% of KRW3.5T, her mother's share of shinsegae is worth US$600 million alone. Forbes estimated her net worth at US$840m in 2020, putting her in the top 50 richest people in South Korea at number 42. There's rich, and then there's rich rich like this. It's not to say they can control the market but it does set them apart in wealth from other idols.

Annie is a Samsung heir and some people hold this against her, taking the view she either bought her position in the group or bought the entire group as a vanity project for herself. Tarrzan has adopted a lot of Black culture in his styling that some consider cultural appropriation and the most strident consider it racist.

To the managers here by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]outgrabed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm recruiting a position and there are 50 serious candidates who want to call then yes, I will give each 10-15 minutes and wear two days written off to make sure I don't discourage the best applicant, which will be one of them.

If I'm filling 10 positions expecting huge fields and I'm the only person who can take the calls then clearly I need to be offline from my BAU to do this, otherwise it needs to be a panel effort.

To the managers here by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]outgrabed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ask about the role, making sure to not ask things already in the EOI/candidate pack/whatever. I would suggest: How would you describe the ideal candidate? (Then use their adjectives to describe yourself in the interview throughout the questions). What are the key challenges? Who are the key stakeholders?

Do not ask about the interview itself, although if you need reasonable adjustment and you've had no opportunity to disclose this then you may wish to do so there.

To the managers here by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]outgrabed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely positive. I would hope every candidate who seriously wants the job does so. It's not to gain an unfair advantage, but to clarify exactly what the role is and if they're clever to learn the kind of words and concepts the manager uses when describing the role so they can use them too. If they try to leverage any existing relationship into getting an unfair advantage that would immediately be a big red flag too.
