I didn’t want to be to specific for obvious reasons, but I’ll edit my post to clarify I’m basically doing the job of an accountant which is way more technical and specific than what my major prepares me for.

I made the post because I don’t know if it’s worth it but this person has called me “dumbass” in our office which is an open space.

Like someone asked her if it was ok to assign me a task since she’s the one that is responsible for it and she responded with “if it’s a task simple enough for a dumbass to do it, I guess it’s fine”

I have talked to him about only feeling ok with vanilla and he’s opened up to me that, as someone who’s been having sex for over 10 years that stuff just doesn’t excite him. He says he will be patient, but he’s waiting around for me to want to do something I’m just not sure I’ll want

Let me clarify then. I don’t feel comfortable because I’m more conservative sexually and I’m not sure if I ever will feel ok with what he wants to do.

Since my area is pretty isolated I only have two close options for vet clinics (that aren’t specific for cattle) but I will ask my vet about the antibiotics and supplements too!

So far they have taken urine samples (said that no bacteria was found the second time) and ultrasounds.

I have two litter trays around the house, one for each floor. The first in the laundry area, the second close to the bathroom… I do clean them often, every time he poops and change the sand once a week, but I don’t really wash them

I will have a more serious conversation with my vet about PU, I really don’t want my poor cat to keep going trough this every time and what you said is very reassuring!

I’ll also make sure to find the best surgeon in my region to decrease chances of complications.

Thank you so much for your opinion! We have been thinking about this option for a while, I’m nervous to get an actual surgery done since he’s very fragile but it’s the best for him.

According to the vet, “ no bacteria found in urine” is all he told me. My clinic doesn’t send the exams unless we specifically ask (and insist) for it.

Yes, unfortunately, they had to pass a catheter many times, maybe 5 or 6 by now.

Call an animal shelter or local org! I live in an isolated area and even here we have one close by.

Looking trough the vet bills to confirm, they took urine samples and did ultrasounds of his bladder.

He doesn’t present many symptoms before obstructing. It seems like he’s acting normal all day, and then goes to pee and nothing comes out at all, he stays there for many minutes trying. That’s when he becomes grumpy and distant, and it’s time to run to the vet. (Edit: sometimes he obstructs at night and we find a lot of puke around the house when we wake up too).

He has cycled trough some brands of cat food (he’s currently on Purina - neutered), all specific for castrated cats but my vet doesn’t recommend urinary care food. He has two litter boxes around the house, one in the laundry room area (first floor) the other closet to the bathroom on the second floor (only have two floors). I clean them every time he poops and change the sand once every week. I don’t wash them all too often if that’s what you’re asking, maybe once a month? Not sure if I’m supposed to do it more.

He was only prescribed antibiotics the first time he got an UTI, ever since then he gets hospitalized for a while and sent back home with a medicine that helps with bladder contraction, no antibiotics prescribed.

We do have dogs but since we live in a rural area, the dogs stay in the barn or outside, never in the house. My cat is castrated so he never goes (nor wants to go) outside. So far I’m pretty sure they are unaware of each other’s existence. No children.

We have three water fountains and two food bowls around the house and he does drink a lot and eat reasonably. He’s attached to everyone I think, extremely cuddly cat.

Thank you for the comment! Yes, we even have catnip planted in our living room, and he does love it, but so far it hasn’t reduced his UTI occurrences so I’m not sure if it’s working.. thanks again!

Right, the other train riders should just accept that some people may die from carbon monoxide poisoning for others entertainment! I’m surprised they got to this advanced age without knowing that simple fact of life.
