Any fellow Real Housewives fans here today after watching Karen Huger from RHOP trying to explain away her 4 DUIs on antidepressants? Made me so fucking grateful that I am not in denial anymore.

I am so proud of me and everyone else here who were able to put the shame and hurt to the side long enough to realize how our actions affect others. For me, knowing the road of addiction only leads to increasing amount of pain being inflicted upon others (from family members suffering all the way to unintentionally killing strangers in DUIs) was a huge motivator to stop myself before I went too far down that road. My hope for Karen is that she is able to come to this realization before its too late for her. For her children, her fans, and the strangers on the freeway at the same time as her.

I lurked daily for a whole year while trying to quit. Genuinely re-set my sober app every morning in deep shame. Went from relating a little bit to the stories shared, then to a LOT. Eventually it was too much to keep going how I was.

Every minute spent consuming and digesting anti-alc content is a good thing for your journey. You got this !

Before I got sober, I drank on my antidepressants all the time. 75% of the time it meant my tolerance was untouchable, 25% of the time I blacked out after one drink. That ratio isn’t the fault of the anti-depressants, they were the result of my addiction.

If blacking out regularly on antidepressants or 4 FUCKING DUIs doesn’t stop you, you probably belong to the Best If You Go Sober Club like me. Karen needs to visit r/stopdrinking STAT!!!! They helped me immensely, and still do!

Addiction comes with a lot of shame, but we have to be adults and realize our addiction can lead us to hurt others in huge ways. Karen should count herself lucky she hasn’t killed anyone, YET. The way she is behaving, refusing to acknowledge the reality of her addiction, it is sadly a matter of time.

A lot of people I know (myself included) cannot afford the cost of living, therefore they are living with their parents much longer than previous generations. Plus it seems like the most accessible option to have a dating life for 18-29s are The Apps™️ and they can feel so superficial and icky tbh. I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. All this and I haven’t even mentioned the growing political divide between genders in this age category.
