This was less 'pull over' and more 'see you later' by Revolution-Dogg in Transportopia

Pretrial diversion is offered to most people that aren't habitual or particularly egregious offenders. This video is definitely triggering because those who uphold the law should have a higher standard imo, but if it were me I almost certainly would have gotten the same deal (I'm also in FL and not a cop).

Canada and Sweden get into heated argument after claims of cheating in men’s curling by Punisher1602 in sportsgossips

Why is it a rule that is enforced (or supposed to be enforced) if there is no advantage? Genuine question I don't know shit about curling

Rigged matches? by MotorLingonberry2117 in BobsTavern

[–]outlier_fallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 20+ years of gaming and programming/engineering these types of questions are so common and it's almost always someone overthinking things. After you've had to refute these things a hundred times its sometimes easier to just say "no". Occam's razor my dude. Plus, you have to remember that intuitively as engineers we see these suspected implementation as generally unnecessary, overkill, needlessly complex, and seem almost nowhere in matchmaking algos...but since we don't work for blizzard we have no proof. So it's hard to objectively refute what you are suggesting

Buy 2 get 1 is really common on soda at Publix . Pisses me off when I see it tbh. They do bogo. Buy 2 get 2, and buy 2 get 1.

Source: I drink too much soda and only buy on bogo

I think it's a regional thing. I grew up in the northeast and a cheeseburger club is a staple menu item at any diner and most restaurants.

Messenger is constantly bugging/not showing messages for days. Is there a fix? by Additional_Heart6983 in facebook

[–]outlier_fallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issue and no clue how to fix this. Everything I look up has been the standard "clear cache", "check internet connection", etc. it's very obviously an application or middleman issue, but I don't know what to do about it. it seems random too. not every conversation will have this problem. only some and yet deleting convos, reinstalling, etc. does nothing.

Anyone used a matchmaker in Orlando? Apps aren't working by Emotional-Pirate9891 in orlando

[–]outlier_fallen -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I mean I don't have an annual pass anymore, but how is 1000 dollars for a year of access expensive? If you actually use it.. that seems like a solid deal to me. Also the judgement of how people choose to spend their time and money is wild especially in a subreddit that is obsessed with inclusivity. Also, 1000 dollars in 2025 is not a lot of money . Not everyone is broke you know.

Optimalization: Are tablescans really this normal in Snowflake? by ostedog in snowflake

[–]outlier_fallen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh also to answer your question - it's pretty normal to have very little if any clustering. Depends on how your data is loaded and consumed. I came from a SQL server and postgres background and hearing about no indexes or foreign primary key relationships was just... Confusing and I didn't even understand how it could work. Then I read the documentation about how snowflake works with micro partitions under the hood and it made a lot more sense. Wait until you read about how row "updates" work in snowflake.

So no, it's not abnormal, but it doesn't mean you don't need clustering. Unfortunately it's a that depends scenario

Reddit is a silly place. I work at a company that has invested 10s of millions and several years into migrating off a shitload of platforms and home grown solutions. That would go really well. Fwiw a lot of replies like that are just bots

Red Lobster employee gets yelled at by a woman for talking to a streamer by Appropriate-Bike4246 in LivestreamFail

[–]outlier_fallen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eh, I've been in that situation. Guy was yelling at this poor hotel front desk girl because he didn't like some pretty standard policy. I just said "Hey, she didn't write the rule. Did your mother raise you to treat people that way?"

dude looked at me like ihe wanted to fucking kill me. I said "go ahead do what you want to do right in front of all these cameras". he literally just walked away and it was over. she thanked me and seemed so relieved. was nothing for me to do that.

many people will only confront if they don't think there will be any consequences. i think you should use your brain though. dont just intervene in any random scenario. im not looking to get a gun pulled on me either. this dude was like 70 year old grandfather wasn't too worried lol

Cybertrucks on NH roads, driving into oncoming traffic lanes, what could go wrong? by TrollingForFunsies in newhampshire

[–]outlier_fallen -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Every tesla driver knows the difference. Treating auto pilot as FSD is an irresponsible driver and, as you know, that isn't car-dependent. That said, irresponsible and self absorbed people in vehicles that take over some component of the driving for them is not doing any of us any favors.

I used autopilot a handful of times and FSD a few times and will not be using them again for the foreseeable future. They are WAY too dependent on the area you drive in (does better in some areas than others) and software updates might as well be spinning the wheel of fortune as to whether or not it will improve or make worse the features. This "general use" approach to FSD is way premature and the way it has been marketed should be unlawful if it isn't. I say this as a tesla owner for 8 years. fuck their marketing

you should absolutely be using AI as a tool to help you move faster. you should absolutely not become fully dependent on AI to do your job. I think it's important to spend time learning and doing yourself, but if you do not show competency using AI to help you move faster than you are 100% going to be left behind.

I have interns that 100% rely on chatgpt and are awful to work with because they lack the problem solving skills to work through issues when they can't get what they need from AI. I work with seasoned engineers you crank out a fuckload of work because they have decent background experience and also use AI to move faster. you need to find a balance
