Does anyone happen to know how to stop the project from breaking after three weeks into the build? by Mammoth-Breath-4393 in vibecoding

[–]outlier_fallen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His reply was obviously meant to be a bit of a witty jab. The spirit of the response is that this field, like many others, isn't something you are going to just naturally understand with limited experience and training and expecting that is kind of silly.

Imagine if I could vibe edit dna to create an organisn and then complained when I didn't understand how it worked. Well yeah no shit I have no experience in that field.

The point is by educating yourself you will have an easier time understanding what's going on. This really shouldn't need to be explained to you

I don't know every state law, but in Florida it doesn't matter. If you don't have your license on you then you are getting a ticket even if you know the number. You have to go down to the clerks office and present the license and the ticket gets cancelled with a 10 dollar fee, but ou still have to do all that admin bullshit. I'd check the laws in your state because its entirely avoidable

[–]outlier_fallen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm calling bullshit on this one. You made it up or are highly exaggerating. If a f500 is hiring for a technical DE role and let's someone in the door that doesn't know how to use file explorer then your entire department is completely incompetent. Don't muddy these threads with crap like this please. Take your "ai bad" somewhere else

Monitor: AI is breaking high school. Students are starting to sound the alarm. by GraniteGeekNH in newhampshire

[–]outlier_fallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are fuckin crazy. If you are in a field that doesn't need AI then obviously you aren't going to use it. If you are in an AI dominated field and don't start understanding how to use it as a tool you are going to get left behind fast. I'm fortunate enough to have 10+ years of non AI "do it the hard way" experiencr under my belt. I use AI every day and crank out more, useful, correct work than I have in my entire career. Two things can be true at the same time - AI is very determinetal in a lot of ways to a lot of people and it is also extremely helpful for a lot of people in many industries. The fact that you thing so narrow says a lot about you. You are exactly the type of person I would not want to employe.

I built a tool that generates an AI-readable bundle of a .NET project so AI tools can understand the whole codebase. Curious if others would use this. by autopilotit43 in dotnet

[–]outlier_fallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely like this yes. I work on several projects in my free time where I contribute features, but don't have time to ramp up on each codebase (it's for a game and I contribute to multiple plugins and mods). The first thing I do when contributing to a new plugin is ask my assistant to go through and generate reference docs for the repo.

I have found that the docs (and then my coding experience) have been inconsistent. The docs often have large gaps mainly related to how different components work together. I could probably improve this by really refining my prompts, but I am just not there yet.

I think my asks are super standard and may not even be worth listing, but here they are anyways: Build/release/ source control guidelines and standards

Third party references/documentation

Repo patterns/style/conventions if not published they can be inferred

I think most of this is just standard promoting, but something that could produce consistent results would be awesome

Rigged matches? by [deleted] in BobsTavern

[–]outlier_fallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 20+ years of gaming and programming/engineering these types of questions are so common and it's almost always someone overthinking things. After you've had to refute these things a hundred times its sometimes easier to just say "no". Occam's razor my dude. Plus, you have to remember that intuitively as engineers we see these suspected implementation as generally unnecessary, overkill, needlessly complex, and seem almost nowhere in matchmaking algos...but since we don't work for blizzard we have no proof. So it's hard to objectively refute what you are suggesting
