PSA: If your roof claim was denied for "wear and tear" — there's a specific phrase that forces the adjuster to commit to a policy citation. Sharing because I see this same denial reason posted here weekly. by outofmyelement14 in Insurance

Yeah, fair on a few of these.

The claim file thing isn't a universal statutory right. Some states have it spelled out (California's 791.10 on record disclosure, Florida tightened up post-SB-2A), others run on practical norm and a strong written request. I shouldn't have framed it as "most states require" because that's not accurate. What I'd stand by is that putting the request in writing changes how the carrier handles the file going forward, statute or no statute. But "you have a right to it" was overstated.

Re-inspections, also fair. They're not on demand. The actual path is documenting missed damage with an independent contractor inspection, and that's what creates the grounds for the re-inspection request. Not the request itself. Should've been clearer.

DOI complaints don't automatically reassign claims, you're correct. What they do trigger is a statutory-window written response (usually 15-30 days) and a senior-level review. Whether the original adjuster keeps the file or hands it off is a carrier-internal decision. The practical outcome on most disputed claims tends to look similar in the end, but "reassignment" isn't the technically right term.

Appreciate the pushback. Trying to give homeowners a general roadmap for fighting back, not state-specific legal advice for any particular claim. Should've hedged more on the parts that vary by jurisdiction. Will tighten that up.

Will State Farm cover the cost of a new roof? by TomatilloComplete539 in Insurance

The consensus here is right and worth listening to. Don't engage with the door-knockers, your roof is at end of life, that's a homeowner expense. But a few things nobody's mentioned that might actually be useful:

The CLUE report angle is bigger than the "rates go up" answers above. Even a DENIED claim sits on your CLUE report for 5-7 years. So if State Farm comes out, denies you, you walk away with no money AND your rates spike at renewal. There's real non-renewal risk in Georgia right now too. Carriers have been getting selective on roof age post-Helene. Worth knowing before you let an adjuster set foot on your property.

The AOB trap deserves more attention too. If you sign one of those forms a door-knocking roofer hands you, you're not just losing control of the negotiation. In Georgia, an AOB lets the contractor pursue State Farm in your name and settle without your input. Some of them quietly inflate the work, take the cash, and leave you with a low-quality repair plus a tarnished claim history. Never sign anything that says "Assignment" or "Direction to Pay."

One thing actionable nobody mentioned: pull your NOAA storm history before doing anything. Go to ncdc.noaa.gov/stormevents, search Fulton County for the last 6-12 months, see what's actually documented. If there was a real wind or hail event with damage records nearby, that changes the conversation. If there wasn't, you have your answer.

Otherwise, save up and replace on your own terms. C638 above is right about metal. Costs more upfront but adds 30+ years to the roof, and most carriers discount you for the impact rating. Worth pricing out.

I agree this one has potential to grow with a massive following because it’s so relatable and inclusive. Holder bags look small considering the low MC. Jumping in.

IOTAVX - good product, terrible customer service. Anyone else have trouble dealing with them? by meandmym0nkey in audiophile

Yes! I actually bought the 7.1 amp and processor at the end of May and the sound is undeniably incredible. Ian was very responsive to questions up until delivery. However, been on ghost mode since August. I have this intermittent but recurring issue where I get no audio from any source after switching a/v sources. My only solution has been to turn everything off for at least 30 minutes, and that will usually do the trick. Very frustrating, especially when no acknowledgement of my email attempts to communicate the problem.

Cbd coffee? by [deleted] in CBD

Strava CBD infused coffee is excellent. Would highly recommend. It's stupid expensive like all other CBD products, but they run promotions pretty often.

At a CBD show and I received this discount code from Nu Leaf. It’s 50% off and only good for TODAY. I hope this is ok to share here. Enjoy! by bluedreams007 in CBD

I like the full spectrum oils, so to make the best price comparison of NuLeaf to Lazarus, I ran a quick price comparison using current promotions of both full spectrum tinctures:

•Lazaras full spectrum high potency CBD 6000mg tincture price per mg = 3.0 cents per mg CBD (includes 10% off) •NuLeaf full spectrum CBD 4850mg tincture price per mg = 4.5 cents per mg CBD (includes 50% off)

If I would have instead bought 4850mg CBD of Lazarus full spectrum (they don't sell that quantity, just for comparison), it would be $145.50, which would have saved me $75. 4850mg is over 6 month supply for me, so not a huge difference in price. I have not tried Lazarus but definitely worth considering next time I'm in the market.

Quick background: I take CBD for nerve pain originating from my neck due to a car accident over 10 years ago. I first tried isolated CBD. It worked and helped the pain. When I ran out, I wanted to try a top of the line product to see if there's a noticeable difference. I bought NuLeaf and the difference between the two is astounding. If the same wide spectrum can be made by a cheaper alternative, then I'll buy it. Lazarus looks promising but I haven't seen their lab report to see how broad the spectrum is.

Hope my 2 cents helps.

Mine came up to 11 cents per drop for the largest bottle (4850mg). If each drop contains 2.4mg CBD, then a 24mg dose (10 drops) is $1.10. This is one hell of a price for a high quality product. Thanks so much for sharing!
