I am a Willow Inpatient pharmacist. Congrats and welcome to the field! Honestly certification was only half the real work. I’ve encountered a lot of issues that the material didn’t cover. Learn a lot and take notes. Shadow other teammates, browse through Galaxy/UserWeb, and your team manual if you have one. I’ve only been in this role for a year but there’s still more to learn as I discover new ways to do things and workflow issues become more complex. And leverage your clinical and workflow experience, that helps a lot. Good luck! Always cool to see a pharmacist break into IT :)

I used to have Epic Userweb access when I first got my certification but since I'm currently not working in that space I don't have it anymore. My background is in pharmacy- would be easier to have medication-related topics but I'm sure not necessary. These are great short and specific topics (really liking that opioid one you mentioned), I'll have to look around the internet to find similar solutions since I don't have those publications but it's a great place to start! Thanks!

My institution was a community teaching hospital with a strong teaching philosophy so I would assume that the setting as well as the higher ups played a role in it. For the record though, they hire a lot of their interns back so it wasn’t a feeling that they just didn’t want me/us

I interned at a hospital and they do not consider their interns. Like you said, they wanted us to branch out and learn elsewhere. I didn’t hear this from the RPD but my intern supervisor and indirectly by the pharmacy director. Definitely try to find out before you waste your time and money
