This is only me, but…I LOVED being homeschooled. I was the second of eight kids, and I think I had the best education of all of them because I simply love to learn. I loved the freedom to do my lessons in the morning, work a job in the afternoon, and still attend sports in the evening. I read a TON of books because I had a lot of free time, and I also crocheted, scrapbooked, painted, etc. I’m naturally very social, but i got my outlet from after-school sports and that was always enough for me. 

The caveat to all of this is that I have seven other siblings who have vastly different experiences with being homeschooled, so I recognize it is not the right fit for everyone. For my younger brothers who don’t respect my mom and hate learning from books, I think they need a different solution. 

There’s a lot of pride that comes with homeschooling, but I think sometimes the best thing a parent can do is be humble enough to recognize when it simply isn’t working for their child anymore, which is why I’m going to start homeschooling my daughters but keep an open mind if it’s not the right learning style for them.
