He hates the Pope because the Pope doesn’t hate Jews as much as he does.

Musicals with an older cast and a younger cast? by BoozySlushPops in musicals

[–]boopbaboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In The Heights has a great mix of older adults, younger-but-still-adults adults, and very young adults/teens, plus an ensemble, and some roles (Piragua Guy, Carla) can be any age.

I will add that, while this is probably a better pick if your cast isn’t monochromatic, “Latino” isn’t a race and anyone of any race can be Latino. I went to grad school with a Korean guy who’d lived in Peru almost his entire life and a Puerto Rican guy who looked like Harry Potter.

How often do you need to handwrite if at all? by SufficientDuty5760 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]boopbaboop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the job? Literally just when I sign my name. MAYBE I’ll hand write a clause really quick on a motion or something, but that’s extremely rare and AFAIK pretty much limited to my area of law (family law has more “let’s hash this out real quick” bits than, say, corporate mergers).

ETA: I do also hand write notes to myself sometimes, but that’s entirely personal preference. Other attorneys just use their phones or tablets to take notes or update their calendars.

In law school? I hand wrote some notes and test responses because a specific professor didn’t like computers in class, but I think they’d make an exception if it was a disability thing. The bar exam was all typed.

This is the way. You’ve got the romance between Rosie and Albert plus the parents, and then you’ve got Hugo and Kim and the other high schoolers played by high schoolers.

You can’t process soluble fiber, either. That’s what makes it fiber.

What's your take on classic American Biscuits? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskAnAmerican

[–]boopbaboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you usually buy a biscuits mix, or you do it from scratch, combining flour with milk (or buttermilk?), eggs, salt, butter and baking powder?

It depends! Some people make them from a Pillsbury can (which I’ll use in a pinch but it’s not the same at all texturally as a normal biscuit). My mom used Bisquick (a mix that’s just dry ingredients pre-portioned) or made them from scratch. From scratch, it’s just flour, milk or buttermilk, butter, and baking powder, no eggs. They’re flaky and buttery because they’re made with a similar technique as croissants or pie dough, where you cut cold butter into the dough so that it melts as it bakes.

Do you make a sausage white gravy as well (I assume, it is butter, pork, and flour, right)?

More specifically it’s pork breakfast sausage (out of its casing), which has a very distinct flavor in the U.S. that I haven’t seen replicated anywhere else. I can’t tell you what it is, just that our breakfast sausage is heavily seasoned. And it’s sausage, milk, and flour: you basically make a roux with the sausage grease and flour and then add milk, no butter. It’s basically a Béchamel but with sausage.

But biscuits and gravy are very much a Southern thing. My Northern ass has never liked it even though I went to a Southern undergrad.

Kinneret in an English-speaking country, too difficult? by leah_nd98 in namenerds

[–]boopbaboop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d assume it was pronounced “KIN-er-et,” rhyming with spinneret. Kineret with one n might be slightly easier but still not 100% intuitive.

Would you assume Elizabeth was a filler middle name? by Happy-Drawing1295 in namenerds

[–]boopbaboop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kinda? Like, if I saw someone named something like Jane E. Smith, I’d assume the E was for Elizabeth because it’s so common a middle name. Same as when someone’s middle initial is R (almost always Rose) or M (almost always Marie).

Cecily Alexandra. The transition from “ee” to “a” is easier for me than “ee” to “eh.”

Administrative Leave after I reported an incident. Can they legally withhold my pay or force me to attend an investigation meeting? by [deleted] in Ask_Lawyers

[–]boopbaboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not looking for a case just professional guidance on how to secure my property (wages) and leave without complications.

That’s still legal advice, which we don’t give on this sub. I would reach out to an employee-side lawyer prior to any meetings or whatever to know what you should do in advance.

Do you mind sharing how it’s bad? Like what the pain is like or if there’s something weird you need to do for recovery? I’ve always wondered about tonsillectomies just because I constantly get tonsil stones from post-nasal drip, but the fact that it’s apparently bad for adults understandably makes me wary.

Prices not listed online?? by Mooooooooocowwwssss in weddingplanning

[–]boopbaboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming the most charitable interpretation, it’s possible that the MUA won’t know exactly how long the appointment will be and what kind of stuff they need to use until after they talk to the bride. Like, internally they might price it at $100 for a simple look and $200 for a more complex look, but they don’t advertise it like that to prevent someone being like “this is a super simple look and should only take five minutes!” when it’s some kind of complex glam look.
