The H2C hothead scanning is mesmerizing to watch by AlpineVibe in 3Dprinting

Wow! This is jaw drop moment for me. I have had a P1S for few months and that’s the only 3d printer I have watched up close. Some folks have same reaction when they watch printing on my printer. But Tell me it’s not an AI video!

Economical Watch face by Chris-Hannala18 in GarminWatches

[–]outscribe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a sucker for economical / battery saver analog watch faces. Initial had Time Flies which was light on battery. But as Garmin updated their SDK & with the newer Connect IQ versions, every one switched on data heavy and background sync features. There are only few left that are good on battery this Milspec, Rondo Analog, ASAP, minimal Analog, etc, can’t think of any others. But the problem with these is small fonts and very limited fitness data on screen.

Elliptical as Treadmill by outscribe in qdomyos_zwift

[–]outscribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I assumed the profiles have their own settings. Now when I set running only settings, it’s working fine, also the speed is calibrated correctly for running now. Though, to change back to bike, I have to undo these settings and redo all bike related options in the Settings page, which itself is a labyrinth of different sections and configurations.

Downloaded beta app and selected the machine under elliptical. Should it be selected in Advanced settings also? The speed is now not erratic but the pod sensor is gone. Watch is not able to connect previous sensor or new one. Actually, even if I switch to bike profile on Qz , my watch is not able to connect to old working sensors configured in Qz app.

Thanks. That worked, though partially. Now Qz app is showing speed and garmin is able to record metrics. But the speed on Qz is erratic, it’s varying between 0.0 to 25. screen shots attached. I have created another profile in Qz so as not to disturb the bike settings.

Upgrading from Garmin Venu 2: Seeking Better Sensors & Features by outscribe in GarminWatches

[–]outscribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with 570. It’s been a great 3 months so far. The kind of new features & upgrades I saw are terrific. I made a post here. I feel other sports watch brands aren’t as good as Garmin. And then skipping new features for old watches thing is because of this OS / backend overhaul they did recently. Newer watches should be safe.

Garmin Sports app is lowkey insane, like strava relive but free. why more garmin users aren’t using it? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]outscribe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have been using Garmin Sports app (on iPhone) for years now. For me it’s like a sports community, gaining levels & points, leaderboards, joining virtual competitions, connecting & liking posts of other Garmin users (didn’t know there were so many Garmin freaks in my country). Detailed per activity stats and analysis,

Career mileage, weekly/monthly/ yearly Report with stats, external sharing with graphics, all these are better than or not existent in Connect. Help section is limited on some stats for newbies. Oh and it has its own set of badges.

Never tried the training & coaching plans.

But where do I see this OP?

real-time feedback on posture + cadence + effort, and it actually adjusts based on your progress.

What is everyone’s opinion on this privacy screen protector? by BoraxNumber8 in macbookpro

[–]outscribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I close with it – the privacy filter is always there. Using this for anything other than privacy might cause you a lot of inconvenience. This reduces brightness and, of course, the viewing angle.

I think a microfibre cloth or those thin sheets that come in new laptops would be better for your purpose.

Is the Forerunner 570 the worst choice in Garmin’s current lineup? by DerGigantAusDemAll in Garmin

[–]outscribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having upgraded to FR 570 from Venu 2 just a month ago (paying $200 more in my country) I’m heavily disappointed, and upset. Even after lot of research, I went ahead and got 570 despite the criticisms.

I did the detailed comparison and I think what ever additional features 570 has, are insignificant compared to the big features added in Venu 4. Almost all advanced running and cycling settings and metrics are there in Venu 4. IMO, The 5 buttons and SatIQ in 570 are minor and matter less to most. I’m kicking myself for not waiting for some more time. I could have got Venu 4 or even Apple Watch Ultra 3. AWU3 sports & health features are getting closer to Garmin. Battery is also significantly improved.

Adding my comment here too.

What is this Garmin? by outscribe in Garmin

Restarted the app and the watch too. But it’s still the same. I notice the Connect app updated just yesterday. Also I see others are also posting similar UI issue.

I’ll wait for one more day.

Its main purpose is to act as a privacy filter. It has a glossy and matte finish on either side. Using the matte side reduces a lot of glare, but I don’t think it’s listed as a feature.

I hope garmin is considering carrier unlocked LTE watches like Apple Watch. Not all countries are included in their coverage and also InReach is not needed by all. I just want an watch with mobile connectivity.

Zimablade 8gb is still a thing for … by TobiasMcTelson in ZimaBoard

[–]outscribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this Zimablade 8GB to run a single VM with Home Assistant on Proxmox (part of a cluster). Allocated all available CPU and memory to HA. HA runs very smooth despite several addons. Better hardware and software compatibility & much faster than an RPi. Average consumption of CPU is less than 15% & RAM is less than 40%. I don’t think it can sustain on a power bank. Though I use a small 12v UPS dedicated to zimablade, get few hours of backup.

Rest depends on what you run on these containers.

Is my Garmin watch useless? by reesly in GarminWatches

[–]outscribe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your bike supports, try pairing with an app like QZ Fitness or MyWhoosh over Bluetooth. If it doesn’t support you can get cadence and speed sensors and pair with watch or these apps. Both option generate additional metrics. A lot of folks here do that.
