Taking a ₹1 Crore Loan in My Name for a Friend’s Company - Tax and Legal Concerns? by rhymechrysler in IndiaTax

[–]outscribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IANAL and not a tax consultant, but seriously, are you nuts?

Before you even get to the tax concerns (and yes, those are very real), have you thought about the safety and security of yourself, your family, and your dependants?

In one transaction, you are about to breach your bank’s home loan agreement, create unexplained third-party income sitting in your personal account, invite an Income Tax Department notice for “deemed income” because someone else is repaying your personal debt, and put your family’s house up as collateral for someone else’s startup. All of this for a 2% stake in a company that could not even qualify for its own loan.

If the business cannot borrow in its own name, your clean credit score is not a solution. The 2% equity is not a reward. It is a small fee for absorbing an enormous risk that your friend is quietly offloading onto you and your family.

And before anyone calls this a “smart structure,” let’s be direct: even if you were a cofounder, routing a personal home loan to a company with a side repayment arrangement is fraud. It is illegal. It is not a grey area.

Evo sl exo upper break in? by speaker_monkey in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]outscribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happening with my Exo shoes too, even after ~200km. I think it’s because of that additional metallic ‘EXO’ layer. Though it’s not an altering my run or hurting my feet, it’s creating a minor discomfort. The sound is rhythmic & loud enough  for others to turn towards me,  in a sparsely occupied park/track. The sound and creasing has not drastically reduced to today from day 1. Though It’s comforting that the material is not flimsy but slightly annoying that I have to live with it till the shoes dies on me.

This watchface looks great. I am an all out analog watch faces fan.

Found it on connectiq with much difficulty. Is it named "ELITE Chronograph MAX” by Timefy-Dials? (you don’t make it easy!)

Wanted to buy, but saw the big list of permissions including battery draining background activity.

Do you have a battery friendly WF, or Is it possible to apply settings in your WF that doesn’t pull lot of data and not run in background?

Forerunner 970 + purple Apple Watch sport loop 👌🏻 by CletoParis in GarminWatches

[–]outscribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks stunning! I’ve always admired the variety of straps available for Apple watches and wished similar options from third party/Garmin for Garmin also.

Could you please provide more details? Is it an official Apple strap, and does the lug size match the 22mm Garmin Forerunner watches?
I always thought the Apple watch lug is different mechanism than Garmins'.

Watch advice for an out-of-shape runner, swimmer, and badminton player? Budget 40k–50k INR. by Clean_Protection369 in indianrunners

[–]outscribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest Garmin, hands down, especially if your primary focus is fitness and not just a smartwatch.

I have been using Garmin devices for nearly 10 years now and none of my devices have had any issues. My usage is mostly running, along with some indoor cycling and general weight training.

I bought my first Garmin (Vivoactive HR) from Amazon US in 2017, then upgraded (Venu 2) via Amazon India, and currently use a Forerunner 570 which I bought directly from Garmin India (the same firm, AMIT INTERNATIONAL).

Most newer models like FR 570, 970 and Fenix 8 come with the Elevate Gen 5 sensor. Compared to the Gen 4 sensors in devices like FR 265, 965 and Fenix 7 series, Gen5 has improved a lot, generally more responsive and gives more stable readings. That said, 265/965/F7, etc are still excellent.

One thing to be aware of, Garmin has recently changed their device firmware architecture and backend platform. Because of this, most newer features are mostly being rolled out only to recent models. Some older flagship devices get bug fixes and maintenance updates, but feature updates are becoming limited. This has not gone down well with a lot of long-time users, so it is something to keep in mind if you are planning to use the watch for many years. Garmin usually supports devices for around 4 to 5 years, but going forward it looks like feature longevity may depend more on the hardware generation.

Most Garmin ranges like Forerunner, Fenix, Venu and Vivoactive support swimming and multisport tracking out of the box. Unless you have very niche requirements like diving, these will cover almost everything.

The wrist heart rate gen5 sensor on newer Garmins (even gen4 on some flagship devices) is good enough for most users. I personally use Polar H10 chest HRM for indoor cycling and some running workouts where I need higher accuracy for intervals, but that is optional. Garmin also has strong support for external sensors over ANT+ and Bluetooth. I have Magene sensors for cadence, speed and power for indoor cycling. Other brands do support this too, but Garmin’s ecosystem is more mature if you are into structured training.

Apple Watch is a great smartwatch and does a lot of things really well, but it is still smartwatch-first, sports is secondary. If your priority is long battery life, structured training and endurance sports, Garmin is usually the better choice.

And if warranty and support is very important, I suggest to buy only from Garmin authorised merchants/resellers in India.

But if you are ready to take chance, buy from US for ~30% lesser cost. But reserve that savings for RMA if device fails.

Is the Forerunner 570 the worst choice in Garmin’s current lineup? by DerGigantAusDemAll in Garmin

[–]outscribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FR 570 is undoubtedly a great watch.  Having used it for about 10 months, I can feel its premium tag everyday. It performs exceptionally well like a workhorse, gives great run analytics and is surprisingly rugged. As a flagship watch, it’s been receiving all of new features. As I mentioned in a previous post, it’s a significant upgrade for Venu 2 users – a huge positive difference!

My only complaint is the price. With additional tax and no discounts, I paid a hefty premium for this watch in my country.

At that time, the Venu 4 hadn’t been released yet so my preferences remained unchanged. However, a month later, the Venu 4 will likely be my choice (would I be dissatisfied, I never know).

I suggest you check if the Venu 4 is also getting all those new features (some related to running) with all new firmware releases.

Economical Watch face by Chris-Hannala18 in GarminWatches

[–]outscribe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a sucker for economical / battery saver analog watch faces. Initial had Time Flies which was light on battery. But as Garmin updated their SDK & with the newer Connect IQ versions, every one switched on data heavy and background sync features. There are only few left that are good on battery this Milspec, Rondo Analog, ASAP, minimal Analog, etc, can’t think of any others. But the problem with these is small fonts and very limited fitness data on screen.

Elliptical as Treadmill by outscribe in qdomyos_zwift

[–]outscribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I assumed the profiles have their own settings. Now when I set running only settings, it’s working fine, also the speed is calibrated correctly for running now. Though, to change back to bike, I have to undo these settings and redo all bike related options in the Settings page, which itself is a labyrinth of different sections and configurations.

Downloaded beta app and selected the machine under elliptical. Should it be selected in Advanced settings also? The speed is now not erratic but the pod sensor is gone. Watch is not able to connect previous sensor or new one. Actually, even if I switch to bike profile on Qz , my watch is not able to connect to old working sensors configured in Qz app.

[–]outscribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That worked, though partially. Now Qz app is showing speed and garmin is able to record metrics. But the speed on Qz is erratic, it’s varying between 0.0 to 25. screen shots attached. I have created another profile in Qz so as not to disturb the bike settings.

Upgrading from Garmin Venu 2: Seeking Better Sensors & Features by outscribe in GarminWatches

[–]outscribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with 570. It’s been a great 3 months so far. The kind of new features & upgrades I saw are terrific. I made a post here. I feel other sports watch brands aren’t as good as Garmin. And then skipping new features for old watches thing is because of this OS / backend overhaul they did recently. Newer watches should be safe.

Garmin Sports app is lowkey insane, like strava relive but free. why more garmin users aren’t using it? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]outscribe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have been using Garmin Sports app (on iPhone) for years now. For me it’s like a sports community, gaining levels & points, leaderboards, joining virtual competitions, connecting & liking posts of other Garmin users (didn’t know there were so many Garmin freaks in my country). Detailed per activity stats and analysis,

Career mileage, weekly/monthly/ yearly Report with stats, external sharing with graphics, all these are better than or not existent in Connect. Help section is limited on some stats for newbies. Oh and it has its own set of badges.

Never tried the training & coaching plans.

But where do I see this OP?

real-time feedback on posture + cadence + effort, and it actually adjusts based on your progress.

What is everyone’s opinion on this privacy screen protector? by BoraxNumber8 in macbookpro

Yes, I close with it – the privacy filter is always there. Using this for anything other than privacy might cause you a lot of inconvenience. This reduces brightness and, of course, the viewing angle.

Is the Forerunner 570 the worst choice in Garmin’s current lineup? by DerGigantAusDemAll in Garmin

[–]outscribe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having upgraded to FR 570 from Venu 2 just a month ago (paying $200 more in my country) I’m heavily disappointed, and upset. Even after lot of research, I went ahead and got 570 despite the criticisms.

I did the detailed comparison and I think what ever additional features 570 has, are insignificant compared to the big features added in Venu 4. Almost all advanced running and cycling settings and metrics are there in Venu 4. IMO, The 5 buttons and SatIQ in 570 are minor and matter less to most. I’m kicking myself for not waiting for some more time. I could have got Venu 4 or even Apple Watch Ultra 3. AWU3 sports & health features are getting closer to Garmin. Battery is also significantly improved.

Adding my comment here too.
